Apple is basically shorting AI. Which, at the moment, is a very smart bet. It will be useful, it will be everywhere. It isn't a machine god, and it's not worth a fraction of what many companies are spending on it today. Apple seems to be waiting for the correction.

They also just kind of didn't go anywhere, though. The Hyperion Cantos have arcs within arcs and a full satisfying ending. Illium and Olympos just kind of happen. It got weird.

This is generally what happens when initial excitement and energy driven by curious and inventive communities are turned into products managed my the MBAs. No good idea survives contact with a business degree.

Standing up for, absolutely. My thing is, if the line was "it's not a big deal" (which is a good line to hold), I don't think it would have gone down well these past few years. The time to do that was more like 10 years ago. 2 or 3, and it would have been met with hostility from all sides.

Yeah, except if any Democrat in office had said this, the left would be climbing over themselves to scream the loudest about how he deadnamed his kid. There was no winning 2 or 3 years ago. There's no winning now. We missed the boat to be chill about it a while ago.

So much of language is descending into uselessness online. It's infuriating. And there doesn't seem to be a good solution.

We grew up at the height of an empire and lived through its downfall. I feel like we've earned it.

I love the goal. Love the progress. Like many things Portland, the execution has left a lot to he desired. Starting with, they've basically said as much as, "we guessed at how much money we might need and threw a new tax on people without any idea how much it would generate."

Hey so, that's simply not true. I have personally spent many hours removing references to "master" and "slave" resources from documentation. There is not way to extricate the use of those terms from the most monstrous human behavior possible. You're wrong. Go to bed.

Success is a drug. Some people can take a little every now and again and be fine. Some people go hard and get wrecked. She was ruined by it. She's on her way to rock bottom.

Listen, I'm against it. But if I could talk for 10 minutes and eliminate 2 trillion dollars of wealth, I can't promise I wouldn't do it just for fun.

Some of the best coders and security professionals in the world can't get a security clearance because they occasionally have a weed gummy and watch movies on the weekends. But this demonstrably erattic ketamine addict just gets whatever information he wants. This is a good system.

Change this to a teacher being kicked out of her classroom for wearing a rainbow shirt, and they'd throw the principal a parade.
