Probably not until next summer. We wanted to go this year, but the tickets were more than we could afford. So, now I know what to expect and will save up for 2026.

Same, bestie. I went for the first time in 2014, and it just felt right. I can't really explain the feeling.

It's so pretty there. In Brno, the warm weather just means the smell of vomit is intensified.

People being mad is so silly.

Let's go Oilers! Play La Bamba, baby! Hee hee.

Toronto's alright. Always enjoyed my time there. The airport is a mess, though. Lol.

Kind of similar, but this is how I felt watching the first season of The Last of US. It was filmed minutes from where we lived in Calgary.

I would die without AC and we have fans for the bedroom. I do need to open them up and dust them, though. ๐ฌ

YAY! I haven't been back in a couple of years, but it's always going to be home to me. After all, Paul Brandt sang, "Iโve been Alberta bound for all my life, and Iโll be Alberta bound until I die."

I've noticed this, too. Her posture is much better than it used to be. It's easier to stand tall when you don't assume you're going to tower over everyone. As a fellow tall girlie, I know this kind of self-consciousness very well.

Oh, definitely not. Beyonce winning AOTY brought a lot of them out, unfortunately.

It's the perfect size, with genuinely kind-hearted people, and it's still relatively affordable. What more could you ask for?

No, it was like:
Travis: Where's Edmonton? Let's look it up. Oh, wow. Wayne Gretzky played there.
Taylor: Oh. Wow. Yea, I played there a few times. Edmontonians are the coolest, especially the Polish ones.

I think there is just a lot of xenophobia here. It's far less common in Prague, but Brno seems a bit less welcoming overall. At least, in my experience. I know many people will disagree because Brno is home to a lot of international students.

But, there are middle-aged Czechs that have been rude about my using an incorrect grammatical case. It's usually supermarket clerks and other low-paid service workers. I know they aren't paid a living wage and just don't care to provide glowing service, so I usually laugh it off.

Ah, you're so cute. Lol.
Happens to me at Starbucks mostly (yea, I know, not the ideal place to get coffee but Kiddo loves their cake pops) and, I think they hear the way I pronounce the drink names, with a native English accent, so they just switch for my benefit. It's not malicious at all.

Nice! Small, small world.

Younger Czechs will just give you a pity smile and switch to English. Like, "Awe, you're so cute for trying. Here's a pat on the head."
comment in response to

Czechs will look at you and pretend they didn't understand you because you used the genitive case instead of the dative case, or something like that. I'll throw in Polish words when I can't think of the Czech equivalent, and that confuses them even more.

You're always welcome in Brno, although I totally understand that Prague is where most people want to go. I don't blame them - Prague is such a magical city.

lol. yea. Kiddo is pretty happy in Brno, so I think we're here for the long-haul. but, it's definitely not my favourite place in the world.

It's kind of like that, yes. I believe it was invented by Indigenous people here. Seems to be mostly credited to Haudenosaunee tribes.

Hungarian is so completely foreign. It's a Finno-Ugric language but somehow isn't remotely related to Finnish. Czech is a Slavic language, so you'd probably struggle to tell Czech, Polish, and Slovak apart. ๐
