I can't stress enough how wrong and disingenuous the most recent wave of COVID revisionism is. The *only period* when Democratic counties had higher death rates was April-May 2020. From June 2020 onwards, Republican laxity and denialism were the most powerful force driving deaths.

Whether it's a random liberal nobody praising Luigi on Facebook or a Republican cabinet nominee calling for genocide against all non-whites, there's plenty of incendiary rhetoric on both sides.

The efficient market hypothesis does not mean that the market prices are handed down from tablets on Mt. Sinai, it means that you cannot make true arbitrage profits (eg, buying the entire S&P 500 and selling a future for a different price) without taking on some kind of corresponding risk exposure

lol Trump just announced another 25% steel tariff at a rally

The court ruling against many of Trump's tariffs today would lower US overall tariff rates by roughly 10%, only leaving the tariffs on cars, steel, & aluminum If it holds (a very big if) tariffs would drop to the lowest rate since March & importers would get retroactive relief

Was thumbing through my ancient pile of magazines when this old New Yorker article from 2009 caught my eye. It discusses the state of the GOP, which lost the trifecta in 2008, prior to the 2010 midterms. Some interesting echoes to where we find ourselves now... www.newyorker.com/magazine/200...

It would be very easy, newsworthy and get a lot of clicks for the national political media to make a "drumbeat" scandal out of the numerous trump pardon recipients who have committed more crimes since being pardoned. They don't do it because they like Trump

Republican control of the information environment means voters don't hear about GOP failures but Dem failures are endlessly repeated. When no Dem failures exist they invent fake ones and repeat those

"We just need to triangulate harder" is a maddening position to read when Republicans are consistently rewarded for doing things that would have been considered career-ending even 10 years ago.
