One of the most exciting announcements from @microsoft.com #Build2025 was the new #PostgreSQL extension for #VScode, a fantastic new UI for managing your PG databases locally or in the cloud. See the attached examples, and more here: github.com/Microsoft/vs...

me today be like

When the Cass Review came out last year, the NYT rushed to cover it complete with post notifications. After reviews in Germany and Utah came out supporting gender affirming care for trans youth, dead silence. You can be just as biased in what you don't cover as what you do.

The red means I love you… with @microsoft.com at #RedHatSummit

While “yay for democracy and protecting rights!”, also: the noun phrase “Democratic AGs” should absolutely make your skin crawl. There should be no political affiliation in the prosecutorial function of a nation’s justice system. I will never get used to this, nor the idea of elections for judges.

About to do my favorite thing in the US…

A choice between hotel-lobby-Starbucks and a 10 minute walk to Blue Bottle… hm, it’s not exactly a hard decision.

A bit jealous of my kids as they come of age and become politically engaged. They haven’t been around long enough yet to have their heroes deeply disappoint them.

Just starting to hear about Gen Alpha as being the generation cohort that follows Gen Z. But surely they should be Gen AI?

Yesterday was a first in decades of flying: last-minute go-around at BER due to a fox on the runway. The Flemish FA was flummoxed because she couldn’t remember the word for fox in French - stammeringly announcing “il y a un petit animaux sur la route”.

Every year I’d send my mother greetings on the international Mother’s Day (which was the correct day for where I lived, either US or Germany) and she would remind me that I’m late because in the UK it’s the fourth Sunday of Lent. This year for the first time I miss being able to have that argument.

I love what Brussels Airlines has done with their planes… flying in Rackham today!

Apparently French regulations don’t allow pure EVs, so even Teslas need to fill up with gas from time to time.

TIL that “tint” controls on televisions is a US phenomenon, required to fix phase sync errors that can occur due to how color is encoded in the NTSC standard. The PAL and SECAM standards used elsewhere in the world fixed those problems so did not need the ability to adjust for tint. #IYKYK

Still the best car ever

This is not the way to get me to start journaling, Mr. Apple.

So many billionaires in tech for whom $23 million would be pocket change... would be great if one of them stepped up to keep Sesame Street et al going!

In this post from 10 years ago today, @microsoft.com shared how it embraced #Linux. Today, Linux is more important than ever, and is central to our Azure business, running >65% of customer workloads. Proud to have been part of that journey for the last four years. www.microsoft.com/en-us/window...

One for my German-speaking friends :-) Gerade erschienen: RICHTIG ANDERS, ANDERS RICHTIG Ich emfehle dieses Buch von ganzem Herzen! Dass ein Kapitel von meinem Sohn handelt und das Buch ein Vorschlag meiner Frau an ihre Freundin war, ist völlig daneben. www.hanser-literaturverlage.de/buch/richtig...
