@rorysmith.bsky.social Great column in today's Observer on the dominance of the round ball game. I used to look forward to odd number summers- no World Cup or European Nations- and we got ENG v AND last night.

Vaccines save lives If you don't believe me, go to a Victorian cemetery, look at the tragic headstones of wee ones who were taken during outbreaks we now assume our babies will be safe from. #VaccinesWork

A wise thread, do read.

Thinking of a hero I knew and admired.

This company is insolvent. It is insolvent because it over optimistically over leveraged. Put it into administration, sell off the business. Tell the lenders to take a jump (politely). www.theguardian.com/business/202...

This is such an important story.

It's possible the split with Elon will persist, divide MAGA, and weaken Trump. I think it far more likely that there'll be no real divide in the ranks, Trump will crush Elon, and Trump will emerge stronger than ever. It's Putin vs. Khodorkovsky, not a fight between equals.

Despite damning evidence the govt clinging on to private ownership of water in England; people fleeced for 36 years. Prospect is sewage dumping, health hazards, lack of investment, higher domestic/business costs, tax dodges, asset-stripping. Public ownership is the only way out.

Fiona Hill warns that Russia, under Putin, is waging war on the UK with poisonings and cyber-attacks. Yet, elites dawdle as citizens face this invisible siege, left to fend off a bear with a butter knife. #3E

The government should get credit for this. It's excellent news and common sense www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Few Hamilton by-election thoughts: 1. Expectations matter - this was an area where Labour won a Westminster by-election on a massive swing less than two years ago and won in a general election less than one year ago get Labour’s victory yesterday is a massive shock given poling woes.

Hamilton redux: * A surprise morale booster for Labour * A strong Reform performance 😬 * A terrible result for the SNP * An expected Tory nightmare Meanwhile, in Scotland is a beacon of tolerance and light and is nothing like England at all news, the Reform + Tory vote was higher than the SNP’s.

And who cares about the right wing press's "precious Brexit"?

And even more value by rejoining the single market

If what Musk is posting about Trump tonight is true, it begs the question of why he was happy to sit on this information while he was in government. I know many people are enjoying this cage fight, but what a sickening display of the morals behind this grotesque political alliance.

Vote. Just bloody vote. #byelection.
