It wasn't intended to be tbh. More meant to say "let's not only use laws as the foundations of our morals"

That's not a hard cut-off though is it? It's not an overnight thing. And I'm not criticising the need for an age to be selected, you need to draw the line somewhere.
comment in response to post
Yeah, not debating the existence for a cut-off at all. Just something can be technically illegal (17 & 18 for instance) but not generally considered as morally bad

Because it'd also drive into the tree?

Not too detract, but this is a very old clip

Not defending any actions, but let's not pretend there's some magical transformation that happens at age <enter local legal age of consent> that suddenly makes someone attractive, or more mentally competent than they were 10 minutes/hours/days/months ago.

Why? Do you not think there are social goods a government might do that no for-profit companies never would?

Out of the loop. What's the context here?

The problem with this is the misunderstanding that the planet is in any danger and that there will be humans to talk about it afterwards.

"We have a record breaking summer every year, that's nothing new." Also interesting that as temperatures rise A/C usage is going to go up too, causing another feedback loop.

More than environment affects I'm concerned about it handling traffic. Curbs get hit constantly. At least it seems better considered than solar roadways, but that's not a high bar.

He thought the obvious paint text on the image he shared of Abrego Garcia's knuckles were part of his tattoos. His critical faculties are compromised. He can't tell what's real.

I think sociopath is too kind. I think he genuinely doesn't know, understand or remember anything. He's just winging literally everything. It's why he just claims everything good as his and bad as someone else, because he can't actually distinguish the differences

They removed around 30 (previously 170) in January and I had the vaij how they were undoing them all, but no such luck. I'm looking forward to their new game, just such a shame Sony is too obsessed with exclusivity and PSN numbers to just let a great game be.

Obligatory, it's a shame Sony decided to fuck it and block it in 140 countries for no reason

Shame their parents are too busy creating random legal battles

We literally had a veto. Anyone that believes that any country could just tell us to do something without our agreement is someone categorically moronic and not worth listening to. It was entirely about xenophobia and removing any and all oversight to stop the government from removing human rights.

I'd be interested to hear about this robustness and how it addresses the wet bulb temperature issue.

That distinctly depends on what you disliked about it.

Honestly recent interviews convinced me he's never lied once in his life and genuinely believes everything he's saying. He's just really, impressively, ignorant. He went an entire interview confidently continuously bringing up this photo and "literally has the letters M S 1 3 across his knuckles"

Didn't the official white house account retweet it?

It's not obvious in a mobile feed due to name length it cuts off perfectly before the 0 meaning they look identical.

They'll find other ways. I'd be surprised if this goes far enough.

It's my understanding that it's standard procedure, but it shows the difference in their attitude to the judge vs specific other people...

While I don't disagree and I don't want to victim blame, I feel like that half the US came out of the first trump presidency and Jan 6th and thought "you know, we should give that another go, my weekly shop is a bit pricey" might have something to do with it.

I hate to say, but it's not about how you feel, it's about weaponizing how other people feel about you into making them support actions they would never support otherwise. That said you can counter this idiotic narrative just by being aggressively open.

This is how the nazis spoke about disabled people. It's deliberate gaslighting to demonize and diminish the humanity of "the other" and excuse the policies that will come later.

In the modern day it's more and more important to not listen to what people say, but what they do and the consequences of it. She spends her money lobbying for the erasure of rights of trans people. If she was lobbying for racial segregation you'd be just as correct in arguing she's not racist.

Battery tech has been pretty stagnant for a while. I don't think hoping for a substantial breakthrough in quantum research or material design is a sensible economic position. The best bet is to do both. It'll cover both the economic side and long-term infrastructure/supply

Solar batteries and panels have a lifespan of around 20 years if seems, depending on quality. Nuclear power plants don't have such a lifespan. So you'd at least get to around 50 years before the cost-benefit started to shift at least.

I could believe that, but at the very least they would be required to believe she can't or won't make their reputation worse. I think they back this stuff and even believe it themselves. They are continue to move right

I think we need to stop pointing out individuals as specifically awful. Her party voted her in, they all think this is not only good policy, but represents them well to the people and will make them more popular. This is the Tories seeing the US move further right and thinking that's the way to go.
