America's descent into suppression of dissent 🧵 I've been tracking Trump's actions since Jan and have included 93 actions that I consider to suppress dissent. They fall into 4 domains and their use is quite different over time. 1/16

A top staffer to Sen. Tina Smith emailed Sen. Mike Lee’s top staffers on Monday about “how much additional pain you’ve caused on an unspeakably horrific weekend” Via Sam Stein on twitter

I doubt anyone will see me post, but this needs to be known... if you have a visible following please repost 💙🔥💙 Admitting he wants "his people... aka US " to behave like north Korea for Kim Jong Un.🤬

I for one would like US media to learn how to write stories like this that reflect reality 🫡 www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

So the GOP outrage over leaving Afghan allies in harm’s way when the US withdrew wasn’t sincere?!? Shocked 🙄🙄🙄

Good piece by @jburcum.bsky.social on the few people that reined in the conspiracy theories online www.startribune.com/burcum-minne...

Threat level: Anna Yousaf, an infectious diseases doctor at the CDC's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, called Kennedy a "domestic health threat" who has dismantled programs ranging from lead poisoning prevention to maternal and infant health monitoring. #ResignRFK

The people who claim we’re in an “echo chamber” are literally trying to imprison everyone who disagrees with them.

These recommended pediatric and adult vaccine schedules reflect ACIP guidance, and were archived on Feb 18, 2025. 🚨 If you- or your kids are behind for any reason, get caught up now. Parents: cancer-preventing HPV vax is approved for all kids 9 yrs and up. Please don’t miss out on this protection.

Day 5-Alaska🧵 We hiked the Triple Lakes trail from south to north, 10.5 miles. It was the clearest day we've had here, and felt lucky it came on our free morning! No wind, so the first lake was like glass. Much of the hike was in woodlands but we had great mountain views on the way to the ridge.

Day 6 (a day late in Alaska. We went for a short hike in the morning. Had to chill in the parking for a couple of minutes as a mom and baby moose were at the edge of the lot. In the afternoon we drove up the Parks Highway. Saw some caribou. - Video in second post.

Researchers examined 40,000 twin pairs, 2.5 million sibling pairs, 1 million half-sibling pairs. Data suggested 83% of autism diagnoses could be attributed to genetics. 4% could be attributed to “shared environmental factors” — includes everything from the womb on up until they leave the nest.

Jeff King can do political smack talk with the best of ‘em. #mushersky #uglydogs

Bought a kit to play with while hubby did the glacier hike. The mystery tiny lego-like kit. Which one did I get? Mini thread.

Hi everyone I was denied entry, detained, and deported from the USA over the last 48 hours because of my reporting on the Columbia student protests I arrived back in Melbourne hours ago and had my phone handed back to me upon landing

Day 7 in Alaska 🧵. I am several days late with this, but am getting over Influenza. We went to Squid Acres Kennel and Paige Drobny, who finished 3rd in the Iditarod in 2025, as well as winning the best kept team (an chosen by the vets). She gave an informative talk and I got to hold a foster puppy.

Alaska Day 8, we got a surprise second day where Denali was visible. Our guide took us to the place where he had his wedding dinner, which also had great views of the mountain! It was a long days drive down to Seward, but it was clear the whole way. Unfortunately, I slept a lot this day😬

Trump is trying to normalize the ICE raids/troops on our streets and the violence you're seeing as a result of all this. He's hoping for the violence in blue cities.

Of course. He's a crook.

Not many. If you listen to them, many have been conditioned to hate their country's ideals and countrymen and believe they are the only "Real Americans" since birth. It's been a big feature of fascism and conservatism (but I repeat myself) in America for decades. We have foolishly ignored this.

Whoever says these public land sales will promote housing development clearly hasn't looked at a map of AK's road system or permafrost extent. Cost & inaccessibility notwithstanding, post-on-pad construction won't work well along the Colville river, for example www.washingtonpost.com/climate-envi...

Uh. So if this is accurate, they're selling not just the Mendenhall Glacier but the entire ice field? Maybe someone who knows more about this particular bill can tell me more? #akleg

Ok. So this is just public lands that *could* be sold. Still not great to sell public lands without public input and lots of room for shenanigans in a closed door process. #akleg

Well dammit

The Trump Administration is trying to strip protections from 13 million acres of vital wildlife habitat and Alaska Native homelands. A 60-day comment period is now open. #StopTheArcticSellOff #ProtectTheArctic Take action now: secure.alaskawild.org/a/specialare...

2012 Taco Bell "Operation Alaska" commercial. After hoax about a Taco Bell opening in Bethel, the company airlifted in 10,000 tacos. So many tacos to talk about. #taco #alaska #alaskahistory

Just published science from UAF: “The aquatic chemistry and flow rates in Interior Alaska’s streams are shifting in response to thawing permafrost and increased rainfall, a new study reports.”

We have an amazing exhibit up right now by Andrea Nelson of Haines that comments on the expansive colonialist brutality of Alaska's early fur trade.

Alaska transportation officials have shut down the 400-mile road to the North Slope oil fields after “a significant flooding event."

Quick work trip to Tampa. It’s HOT for this Alaskan. Not very scenic since I’m near the airport.

Pretty good local article. www.adn.com/alaska-news/...
