Several chats with mates who have had interesting conversations with family members who are now Reform and are non plussed by the fact that the reason given is, just not happy with the big parties who have 'failed the UK' since 1997

Well, I'm not sure the right/left analysis works anymore on the ground. Yes Reform are RW if you look at what policies they have, but this is all deeper than that
From Blair onwards we have (Brown & Johnson excepted!) sharp suited London based managers in charge. People see them as the enemy

Get all that. First degree was history and specialised in US history and yes the inequalities are ghastly, but that can't take away from things like the majesty of Grand Canyon and the national parks for example
