If it’s relevant and interesting, don’t we want it to echo through our thoughts? I certainly do. And however one may describe an echo chamber, if it spurs inspiration, it can’t be bad. For me, I’m suddenly jazzed about writing again.

Atheist Amen. 👍

Did we need to spend money on the sign, though?

I recently had a commercial director tell me, “I sent you the rough video edit with a really bad AI narration as a sample”. I told him that was gross redundancy, and we were instant friends. If it doesn’t come from my mouth or brain, I’m not presenting it to anyone.

A thousand choreographers are crying right now. All the marching unison of a kindergarten class.

My introduction to genre was The Blair Witch Project. The film still terrifies me.

Yup. A lot of government money earmarked to clean up orphaned wells never got spent. It’s a blight on our country. 😳

It was so good. You only called home to ask if you could stay at your friend’s house for dinner. And their parents didn’t want either of you there, either. I swear they only fed us so we’d go back outside.

Oohhh hall pass. Thanks. The guilt subsides. (But I wasn’t watching, anyway.) I’ll go drain the pool.

Of equal importance is, what is the carbon footprint of those measurements?

A movie of constant sorrows. 👍

This. 100%. I love taking time away to think about my characters. They come on hikes, paddles and runs with me all the time. Tall old-growth trees and quiet trails have often helped me solve character conflicts and fill story holes. But this post-your post-tells me it’s time get back to the book.

I directed a lot of recording sessions via Skype over the years. It was great to use - never having to see the voice actors’ weird hand movements and body language…just hear their voices.

I like the assumption that rules apply to Darth Cheeto. Very positive method of thought. 😬

Ergo, ‘frozen tundra’ is gross redundancy. 😁

Here’s an idea @crobertcargill.bsky.social , come shoot another film in Canada…and really - r e a l l y - take your time doing it. I’ll pick you up at the airport.

Graffiti on a concrete abutment became a working title and part of a character name.

The pinnacle is just deleting or unfollowing the person and pouring yourself a celebratory bourbor. Or Canadian Whisky, to be more accurate.

A good day to rewatch Purple Rain.

Agreed. And we'll keep the three national parks in Alberta - since they are "national" parks.

Two things. 1) Don’t go to his level. Keep it classy. 2) Make some deals that give us some European EVs so we have more options than US electric SUVs.

Let’s build small things, too. Like greenhouses - so we can import less food and grow more locally all year long. Invest in small farmers who grow and sell right here in Canada.

I sometimes reread chapters I’ve written and thought, “Was I drunk when I wrote these words?” In reality, when I get going, I just can’t barf it onto the page fast enough. First drafts are hard to reread.

Sometimes you spend your hours writing other people’s shit, so you can afford the time to write your own. But I don’t do anything for free, except help others (and animals). If you’re making money from my work - I’m making money, first.

44 for for my first. Still fighting with characters in my second novel 12 years later. Or maybe I like them too much to give them away. Either way, writing is a curse and a gift all in the same breath.
