Or at least maybe the "Orphic" Zagreus might not be. A lot of modern ideas about the supposedly unified Orphic doctrine begin with 19th scholars, probably starting with Domenico Comparetti, after the discovery of a series of gold tablets in the ruins of Thurii.

You'll find it has something to say about Zagreus as well.

I feel like there's this idea here, probably widespread in UK-based charity advocacy groups that disabled and autistic people can ultimately think of cops as their friends and play a role in the continual reform of the police. That bothers me because it's textbook liberal ideology.

I trust I don't need to say too much about the obvious problems with getting cops too close to advocacy or possibly to activist spaces.

I'm deeply concerned many workshops I hear about that involve police presentations or have the police be the ones distributing guides intended for things like online safety and crime. Seems like cops want to establish a more or less uncritical trust between them and disabled and autistic people.

Yeah overplayed as that is the whole Zagreus thing is kinda up for question as well.

I sincerely doubt that they are meaningfully connected to the Orphic Mysteries.

Ah, I thought it was a predominantly modern perception.

I doubt they do since those mysteries have never historically been described as Gnostic traditions.

They're definitely not pagan texts to be sure, or at least so far that's what I've seen of the "non-Christian Gnostic texts", but still. Kind of has me wondering.

There may have at least been some Gnostic Jewish texts, pretty interesting ones apparently, but I haven't seen any "gnostic pagan" texts yet. Kind of is posing the question of Gnosticism really means though.

I think the Paraphrase of Shem definitely isn't Manichaean or Mandaean, and I doubt the Eugnostos is either.

Now those are some stats I'm going to need to see. It definitely sounds like the kind of data that would flip a few ideas on their heads.

Konx Om Pax is a name I first encountered as the title of a Rotting Christ song and I kinda vaguely got the idea that it was about Aleister Crowley but had not seen the book yet. I think I should try to find it.

That's exactly my read. And since my mind turns to Gabriel Boric, I'm thinking it'll be six months.

Idk, the Conservatives in the UK seem done. Besides, there's always Labour, or even Reform. If you're a reactionary you're quite spoiled for choice.

I saw that from the usual far-right types first ("Marxist Hamas" I think is what one prolific MAGA commentator called Mamdani), but it sounds like libs are going to follow. Ngl I'm pretty worried about the possibility deportations ratcheting up in New York following this.

That reminds me, I was wondering how many libs were going to morph into Great Replacement believers and thus more or less avowed white nationalists after Cuomo loses to Mamdani or Mamdani wins the mayoral race in November.
