Banks are aiming to issue cryptocurrency. Lawmakers just put a line in the GENIUS Act saying when a bank issuing crypto goes bankrupt, crypto investors get paid before regular depositors. In other words: your savings account becomes crypto’s bailout fund. www.levernews.com/cryptos-new-...

BREAKING: Ming Li "Carol" Hui has been released from prison by ICE, her lawyer confirms to me. She's headed home to the Missouri town where she's lived for 20 years. She still could face deportation, so the battle continues. Our interview with her from jail: newrepublic.com/article/1959...

Linklater's movie Slackers is loosely based on the premise that UT used to be so cheap, as a land-grant school with oil, that kids would just keep taking classes there for years. Now it's ~$33K per year, including living expenses, for an in-state resident. I hate boomers and older genx.

I had to rewatch it. "What is oozing out of our ground?"

This always reminds me of the crazy sprinkler conspiracy lady. "What the hell is coming out of our ground."

I can tell from the sideburns that this is a real man.

The worst-kept secret in Washington is that Elon Musk was never really running DOGE; Russell Vought was. Vought, who is White House budget director and Mister Project 2025, will continue to do so. My latest: newrepublic.com/article/1960...

"We're just going react while MAGA sets the narrative, forever, like spineless, beached jellyfish."

Shit sandwich.

“The federal government used to prioritize domestic terrorism, and now it’s like domestic terrorism just went away overnight,” Michigan AG Dana Nessel said. “I don’t think that we’re going to get much in the way of cooperation anymore.” By @hannahallam.bsky.social‬

what I saw on the streets of Minneapolis today was a clear escalation by an extremely reactionary and incredibly well armed group of paramilitary government enforcers that are looking to escalate on the ground massively. Today was very very different then other actions in the city by police or feds.

I have never in my life, seen anything like this, and I would actually like to ask anyone else if they’ve ever seen whole groups of federal officials obscuring their names and replacing it with “the others” or if this is new.

Jesus Christ.

'Data analysed by the BBC show that Ukraine's Western allies have paid Russia more for its hydrocarbons than they have given Ukraine in aid.' What a bleak set of statistics.

I kind of miss the mp3 blog days.

I wrote about the 23-year-old crypto bro with effectively no relevant work experience, who @alondra.bsky.social revealed is sitting in meetings, not paying attention, and then giving the thumbs up/thumbs down on whether they can get their NSF grants...

I am furiously, flamingly, incandescently, *supernova-levels* of angry right now. Trump is trying to kill NASA science. And hoo boy, do I have something to say about it. badastronomy.beehiiv.com/p/trump-thre... 🔭 🧪

reading @leahlitman.bsky.social’s great new book and really struck (as i sometimes am) by the fact that antonin scalia was just a run of the mill gutter bigot

Rubio got a call from his boss.

Done wrenching for now. My main two are together again. I have a Schwinn Typhoon that I might do some restoration work on later this summer.

Bingo.

God, these guys are such fucking pussies

Nice.

THE FUCKING RUSSIAN STRATEGIC BOMBER AIRBASE IS BURNING

We're cooked.

Yes, they are.

Department of Homeland Security officers invading a congressman's offices and arresting a staffer who tried to stop them is very, very bad. gothamist.com/news/homelan...

White House releases partial budget, but without critical details The budget office still has not released estimates of debt, deficits, economic growth or other traditional metrics, breaking precedent www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...

Today was my first proper visit to the Riverwalk. It's pretty nice, I guess. Making fun of shirtless bros, with my neighbors, in a rented boat during a drizzle was pretty great.

I think this all but confirms Myles Garrett heard him correctly that day bsky.app/profile/atru...
