And the judge also rules that downloading pirated copies of books you don't own is, in fact, a violation of copyright law. Anthropic will be going to trial to determine their liability and damages for doing so. Which is, of course, also unsurprising.

The judge also rules that making a digital copy of a book you own for your own personal use is not copyright infringement (particularly if you destroy your physical copy). This is consistent with past law, but nice to see given other recent cases which have strained this common sense right.

It strongly implies that the output of AI engines can be considered copyright infringement, but does not make a ruling because it's not at issue in this case.

"Man, it sure is hot outside today." "It must be AI!"

Eternally grateful to @kennethhite.bsky.social for pointing me at this. Have you read Queen & Country, Greg Rucka's love letter to Sandbaggers?

I did it with Batman. My brother played Batman. I GMed. When Batman did something, we both rolled d6s. Batman needed to roll or higher to succeed. Stopped when Batman crashed the Batmobile driving into Gotham. Knew I hadn't quite grokked it.

IIRC, the oldest programming easter egg in a video game was an Atari programmer sneaking his name into the game.

Honestly, that might be when the internet peaked as a resource for bettering humankind.

Crawford and Perkins have joined Darrington Press. The Polish edition of So You Want to Be a Game Master was a smash hit when it was released at Pyrkon in Poznan, Poland over the weekend.

Very cool thing at #Pyrkon2025. They put up brown paper on the walls so that people can write messages and share art.

They are performing some kind of strange ritual at #pyrkon2025.

If you really are so illiterate that you think that's what I said, then I guess you wouldn't be pretending. But I'm pretty sure you are, in fact, still just pretending to be stupid. In this case, though, we can be pretty sure why: You're too embarrassed to admit when you're wrong. Ciao.

See, I don't believe you're actually so stupid as to believe that California is just as likely to vote for a Republican president as Pennsylvania in 2028. So why are you pretending to be this stupid?

Things you claim in this thread: 1. We don't know which precincts have historically voted for Democrats. 2. It's "challenging" for the US military to "coordinate dozens of people." Those are truly bizarre claims to make.

Good point! There's absolutely no way that Trump would EVER do something that would have a negative effect on international trade! (/s)
