If Guardiola had coached a central midfielder who had never played as a striker before, to score 6 goals in 10 games, nobody in the media would be able to shut up about it. Arteta does it and it (the coaching) barely gets a mention

Partey outstanding too

Bit of a left field choice but growing up Sylvester Clarke was incredible and barely got a look in for the West Indies because of their attack at the time. On that basis Malcolm Marshall is a more convential shout

From what I read it should have been allowed. The ball has to be 'played', not just touched, with both feet for it to be disallowed. Meaning it has to move and it clearly didn't move after the first 'touch'.

Or, sadly, in many cases their own idiocy (in voting for him)

He seems to have had success at every English club he's coached..... bar one 😁

I'd get him off now

I think they wouldn't care if they did know. Vast swathes of America is populated by people who will never leave their own state, let alone country. That's why they are so malleable when it comes to America's position in Geopolitics. They only care about their tiny little portion of America.

Hope so but Everton might get caught up in the occasion and get carried away. Plus the fans will want them on the front foot. But we live in hope

That might play right into Liverpool's hands though. Suck them in and hit on the break is very much their style this season and I fear Everton will be ripe for that

Great idea. 👋

First game I recall seeing on telly was Arsenal v Leyton Orient in 1978 cup semi final. SuperMac hat trick I think. I was 7. Parents weren't really footie fans so didn't get to a game until I was 16.

Thanks for sharing Tim. As most others have said, barely noticed any 'errors' or if I have they have been too insignificant to make the slightest difference. I have always had vertigo and recently had sleep issues but never put the two together. So I will definitely explore that potential link

Umar Gul(l)?

I know it's not guaranteed but I am working on the basis that, in the coming games, it will at least somewhat balance itself out, everything will click and at least two or three teams will get an absolute battering before the season is out

Agreed but the bit that starts with the drums and goes 'so let it rock, let it roll, let the bible belt come and save my soul' is one of the best little sections (don't know the correct terminology - bridge?) of any modern day song. IMHO

You can add to that Tsimikas being off the pitch when the goal was scored because of the rule that says if you get fouled and injured you have to go off for an extended period of time and the player who injured him scores. But let's book players for not taking corners quick enough.

I am not in any way obsessed with Rashford. They talked on the podcast about perhaps having to take a punt on someone who isn't necessarily top tier, like Liverpool did with Salah when they signed him. I just asked whether Rashford might be someone worth that punt.

Fair point. Any names who might fit the bill and are at least vaguely realistic targets? I know you have talked about Ferguson at Brighton before. Delap?

Interesting discussion on forwards. Would you take a punt on Rashford if he was available in that £30m-£50m bracket? Obviously has potential downsides but could equally be a Salah type buy that you talked about.
