Just come across a WEBSITE where there is a QR CODE IMAGE that points to the ticketing site BUT NO ACTUAL HYPERLINK OR URL ANYWHERE. Because of facebook etc taking over everything have people forgotten what websites actually do????

This is and has always been a company of risk-takers who are unafraid to move fast and break things. Or at least, that’s what I thought, until a bunch of you started bringing up the many merits of proceeding cautiously and keeping things unbroken.

Really enjoyed Thunderbolts. (For reference: I mostly dislike superheroes & like films about sad people who've failed trying their best) Pacing felt a bit off & main metaphor gets a heavy-handed, but some lovely understated character work, good humour, & actually felt like it was ABOUT something.

Abi Whistance (The Liverpool Post) wrote a four-part investigation exposing a Liverpool housing charity which left its residents in dire conditions, yet funnelled millions of pounds into a complicated web of private firms linked to the charity’s owner. #PaulFootAward2025

Finding out how batteries work, (1962) “Tear off some of the zinc-casing of one of the cells with a pair of pliers” Artist: Harry Wingfield

Apparently there's a garden at the Chelsea Flower show where you can talk to a tree thanks to the power of AI. It says "what's the point of pretend talking to me when you've burnt the rest of the fucking planet you stupid tech bro arseholes"

Catching up with Eurovision. Not a great year? Estonia, Finland etc quite fun I guess, but in terms of proper bangers, only really rate Denmark

My cartoon for this week’s @theguardian.com Books

In only a couple of hours time, you too can have me rant at you, insisting that you make some comics

Haha, this is GREAT (for that quite specific niche of LOTR/MFTJG fans)

TONIGHT! FUN! COMICS ETC! (Also tomorrow in other venues, less comics)

Tonight! I'm really looking forward to this, tonight - it's only my third Late Shows, and this time, I'm going to be helping (or at least trying to...) paperjamcomics.blogspot.com/2025/05/bett... #LateShows #creativity #comics

I also discuss the bizarre and disturbing association between the Starmer government and former special advisers to Boris Johnson and Liz Truss. I vaguely remember being told something about "Change". But this continuity is beyond our worst nightmares. Not just Tory policies, but actual Tories.

Happening Saturday! North Tyneside Writers' Circle is back at North Shields Library, 1000-1200, Saturday 17th May! See you there... #writingcommunity #amwriting #writerslife

If you're in the UK and you're annoyed that you don't know which AI companies are training on your copyrighted work without permission, the reason is now simple: the Labour party. This isn't a political statement - it's a fact. www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

Median UK annual wage for employees is £30,252. Net pay of £25,301 attacked by corporate profiteering. Hard to survive, raise family even with two wage earners. 1% have more wealth than 70% of the population combined. Can't revive economy without boosting purchasing power of the bottom 50%.

"Between the time when the oceans drank Atlantis and the rise of the Sons of Aryas, there was an age undreamed of." 'Conan the Barbarian' went on general release in the US, on this day in 1982.

Little known fact that Grover Cleveland used to ride around the world in the Statue of Liberty and have sensitive national security discussions inside it, before taking possession of it himself after he left office.

You know what I hate? MIDDLEBROW PODCASTS with actual experts diluted by tedious comedians wasting everybody's time. JUST GIVE ME THE INTERESTING STUFF IN EFFICIENT FORM, NO BANTER IS REQUIRED, aargh. I am my own point of view, I don't need some other idiot being ignorant and glib on my behalf! Bah!

As capitalism is visibly failing throughout the world, and those with the keys to the kingdom maintain the pretence. I thought Adam Curtis' documentary "Hypernormalisation" was worth a rewatch. Never seen it? Watch it now! Seen it when it came out? Do as I did www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p04b183c

The Economist estimates that the annual cost of the Reform/Farage promises is £200bn and savings of around £100bn, due to cuts in public services and deep austerity. Reform/Farage will promise anything to grab power, but will face the Truss moment. Under scrutiny Reform will wriggle.

UK food shops report ‘massive’ rise in pensioner shoplifting. Poverty forces people to do desperate acts Full state pension less than 50% of min wage, loss of winter fuel payment, unchecked profiteering. Govts perpetuate poverty with low wages, benefit cuts. Align state pension with living wage

Here's JSO's short cut of my protest rant on Politics Live. www.youtube.com/shorts/L_93v...

We need to watch it until we get angry enough to make it stop.

It's a new Tidal Farce! 🦈🐙 This was inspired by an actual event captured by a New Zealand marine biologist (www.auckland.ac.nz/en/news/2025...) featuring an interesting little interaction between a short-fin mako shark and what looks like a Maori octopus. more-> tidalfarce.com/index.html?p... 🦑🐡

Don't take it from me. Take it from the government's own assessment: Everything Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves have said about nature protection blocking house building is big fat shining lie. A lie now being locked into legislation before Parliament. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Private equity looting the NHS. Five firms - Newmedica, Optegra, SpaMedica, CHEC and ACES made £169m profit from cataract contracts. Profit margin for NHS work is 32% to 43%. Highly leveraged firms. Public purse pays their interest charges. Public money buys less. Privatisation ripping-off people

England faces drought as reservoir water levels dwindle. Rationing beckons. Population increased but no new reservoirs for 35 yrs; no desalination plants. Companies fleeced customers, borrowed to pay high dividends, low investment. People pay for privatisation follies. End the scam. Nationalise.

Ethnic cleansing was always the plan — and our government cannot pretend it didn’t know. A statement from the Independent Alliance.
