Another @libdems.org.uk win! I spoke in favour of @maxwilkinson.bsky.social's Sunshine Bill earlier this year and Lib Dems have been calling for this for some time. So we are very pleased to see this being introduced so that households can save money and reduce carbon emissions.

This is fantastic news for children and families across England. @LibDems.org.uk have long championed extending free school meals to all those in poverty. This is a victory for campaigners. I hope Govt will now look at auto-enrolling ALL eligible pupils

Yesterday, the Government rowed back its commitment to spend 3% of GDP on defence by 2034. We cannot afford to drag our heels when it comes to national and international security, and we can no longer rely on Trump's America. #defence #security

(1/3) Thames Water's future was dependent on being bought out by one specific firm. Now, this firm has completely pulled out of these plans, leaving Thames without a hope of addressing its crumbling infrastructure, endless fines, and lack of investment. #water #thameswater

Heartfelt sympathy to his family and those affected by this awful event. www.basingstokegazette.co.uk/news/2520737...

I will always stand in solidarity with our LGBTQ+ community. Everyone deserves to live a life free from discrimination and this month is about recognising how important this is. Happy Pride Month! #pridemonth #pride #Ally #EqualRights

👋 Hi North East Hampshire! Here's what I've been working on over the past week:

Last week, I met this wonderful team at Vision 4 Youth in #Yateley. Around 50 volunteers work to provide a fun and relaxed space for local young people. Local police officers are also there, providing a friendly face and being available for questions or a chat. Such a valuable community service.

This is an appalling step. It could not be clearer - following Katz’s comments - that Netanyahu’s extremist cabinet is determined to annex and kill hopes of a Palestinian state. UK Ministers must act now and immediately recognise a Palestinian state. 1/2 www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

1/3 The Government is hitting farming AGAIN. Plans today leaked about cuts to the Nature Friendly Farming Fund - sneakily put out during recess - which is yet another kick in the teeth for our farming community. From my meeting with local farmers this week, it's clear that...

Good. @libdems.org.uk have been saying for years that infrastructure and environment need to be ahead of shareholder payments. TW has been polluting our waterways for far too long, but with its finances in such disarray, a fine won't change things. We need Thames Water in special administration.

Continuing with what I've been working on over the past few weeks, here are the top highlights from what I've been doing in Westminster: 🛋️️ Learned about the local impacts of furniture poverty and how to tackle them from charity End Furniture Poverty.

(1/3) It speaks volumes that the first nationalised train journey is in fact a replacement bus! We were told that nothing would change in the first phase of nationalisation, but this isn’t the kind of consistency that customers want. #swr #southwesternrailway #rail www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

👋 Hi North East Hampshire! It's been a busy few weeks as your MP, and I wanted to give you all an update on what I've been working on. 🏠 First up, here's what I've been doing in the constituency:

1/2 The Women and Equalities select committee is conducting an inquiry into Misogyny, looking at the manosphere and online content. Yesterday we learned from a panel of experts: 💰The financial model of content creation and sharing is allowing and encouraging misinformation and conflict.

This week, my colleague @tomgordonld.bsky.social and I met with Adoption UK and parents of adopted children to hear about the impact of the cuts to the Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Fund. There is a pervasive "happy ever after" myth around adoption that is damaging to families.

(1/3) On Saturday I was privileged to award medals 🏅 to the runners in the Bramley Village Fete Run. The children pulled out all the stops and gave it their all! #bramley #villagelife #fete

A huge good luck to local group Remember Monday tonight as the represent the UK in this year's Eurovision 👏🎼

(1/3) Thames Water's debt is over £19 billion. It discharged close to 300,000 hours worth of sewage into our waterways last year. And its bosses have said it's failing customers.

(1/2) This week, I had the privilege of meeting members of the Save the Bell campaign to celebrate their amazing success and discuss their plans for the pub's future. The Bell is one of the area's oldest businesses and one of its most recent community success stories. #odiham #localbusiness

𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 - 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐦, 𝐒𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞: ⁣⁣ Mental health is a very personal battle, but not one we should avoid talking about or have to go through alone.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ This week is mental health week. I love this ribbon made by a constituent and her story is very moving.⁣⁣

Local people know all too well how important this new hospital is to the community, the next step is getting the Government to realise this. Please sign my petition to help them see their mistake and set things right by delivering the hospital our area was promised www.alexbrewer.uk/campaigns/re...

It's been a very busy couple of weeks with a wide variety of issues right across the constituency. I love this work and it's always a pleasure to meet and hear from local people about what's important to you. But more than that, we've had some wins.

I recently met with #Fleet resident Sarah Horton ahead of her next amazing challenge. Sarah is used to walking and running, but in a few weeks she'll be taking on the LDWA Flower of Suffolk hundred mile ultra. This is 100 miles in less than 48 hours!
