/ Pressed, Trump does not explicitly say he wants Russia back in the G7 right now, says there's maybe too much water under the bridge. But says it was a mistake.
Why not add China? Trump says: Maybe. Not a bad idea.

Update: not a random tweet. Report: Trump admin pauses deportation raids on farms, hotels and restaurants.
One similarity between mass deportation and tariffs: He’ll push, and push, til the elastic starts to snap on Americans.

Thank you Peter. Had it not been for the West Island Chronicle, my life would’ve been very different. Learned a lot there, from the job and from pros like you.

That’s very kind. Thank you. It’s been an intense few years here. Excited about -her career leap, -spending more time with my kids, and -retooling at school to prepare for the next couple of decades.

It’s a great job. Highly recommend it to someone who cares about the world, the US place in it, and the US effect on Canada. Caveat: Sleep and stable hours not guaranteed.

Aw, you guys are kind. Thank you. My wife has an amazing assignment for an international organization abroad, and I’m gonna do two things: spend more time with my kids, and get a master’s online in AI policy. To retool for the next couple decades.

/ That said, Hoekstra voices optimism the relationship will get to a better place, and that Carney and Trump want to get there. Expects an agreement eventually.
“It won’t be easy. There’ll be some bumps in the road. There’ll be some speedbumps. But I think it will get done.”

/ Trump ambassador to Canada, Pete Hoekstra: There has been no pro-American, pro-American trade voice in Canada for the last 4 to 6 months. Complains about provincial ban on US alcohol sales/US companies getting public contracts.
(Does not address what might possibly have occurred 4-6 months ago)

CBC anchor and guest are like, um, were Canadian parties supposed to ignore the POTUS talking about immiserating our country to force it into a hostile merger?

/ Pete Hoekstra suggested he didn't blame them for running the campaign they did. Says in politics, you find a winning issue, you run with it. But says there was no pushback.
