I’m afraid the current Tories are hopeless, which is not good for democracy. Lib Dems just haven’t recovered their feet from the coalition & while I find the Green socialist ideology great I don’t see a potential cabinet or even solid opposition there. Politics is particularly frustrating atm

You’re very welcome. I’m in Labour & have been doing the same with the attacks on R*form. Stop promoting them, stop playing ‘but he’s worse’, tell us how you’re going to fix things. How are you finding the Greens?

Well said.

Discourse has failed to acknowledge that reform, including savings, is a reasonable aim even for a Labour gov & some of what’s proposed is sound. As an informed @mrjamesob.bsky.social caller said today you could get behind a modified version of this bill. The question is will it be modified? 4/4

… as written, the proposals both hit the wrong people & push people into work environments that can’t facilitate them. If they amended the points criteria & better coupled the changes with improved access to [flexible] work it could be OK, but as written it’s pretty awful for people like me 3/4

… explainable by economic issues from Brexit & austerity, which other countries didn’t have. The problem isn’t the idea that welfare costs need to come down or that people need to be involved in society - those principles are sound. The issue is that… 2/3

I say this as someone on PIP who has protested the bill. I don’t think this is true. Figures in the paper (which I checked) show that a/ many more young people are on benefits than normal b/ other disabled people who haven’t previously needed benefits are moving onto them. This is a big problem…1/3

I mean... If they did have links to terrorism they're unlikely to advertise it on their website... I have no idea by the way, that's why I asked. I'm just uncomfortable with descriptions of this government as being authoritarian without the full picture, particularly considering issues elsewhere.

I was born in 1983 & have been visiting London since 1979 when my Mother's eye twinkled. As white British people with correct accents (we hide the Welsh heritage) we were treated with reverence & glory, as is right & proper. Now we are treated just like everyone else. How is that fair?

Seems unlikely that committing vandalism would meet the criteria for terrorism. Do we know what other actions the Home Secretary is taking into consideration? For example, do we know how the individuals gained access to the base? I would like more info before branding the government authoritarian.

And for that cover Israel gets unequivocal protection from the US. That is the first explanation I’ve heard that makes sense. Thank you.

And yet many also saying they will vote R*form. Do we know why there’s the disconnect?

In what way is it a proxy though? Is the tie economic? Finance industries? Does Israel run systems the US can’t do without? What is the power Israel has over the US & so the rest of the world?

No, but he also said that the UK wants a DIPLOMATIC resolution and we DID NOT take part in the strikes in any way. Let's keep balance in the perspectives.

I've been trying to find someone to explain why no power in the world seems willing or able to stand up to Israel. From a layman's perspective it seems intervention earlier would've de-escalated but no world leaders seem to agree. Without 'Politicians all sell out' type answers can anyone explain?

If you’re teaching well - really focusing on expanding critical thought, creativity, & practical skills - then cheating limits the students. If you’re just asking them to regurgitate propaganda…

We need individuality not individualism. Sadly most don't know the difference.

And yet he personally & R*form more generally are still being wildly over-platformed in positive ways that are totally unrepresentative of the reality. It's quite terrifying to watch such a co-ordinated distortion of our democracy by media (traditional & social).
