Stack? I think that was meant to be Task!

It was well after 9 when I went out today. I was hoping that the bit of rainfall we had would have cooled down the site enough, but it was still pretty scorching.
Ironically realised, as I left the house, that park run would be on. So I had to avoid the park, running round the outside of it!

It makes the stack so much more enjoyable.

And this is from a searching perspective more than a publishing perspective of course.

Not anything official, but these are the slides I’ve used recently when discussing the issue. There is definitely more I’d like to add.

19. The discussion we had here about whether use of AI is appropriate in academic publication, how use should be reported, and keeping in mind types of publication and date (with changing context) is something I want to refer back to.

I meant generative AI here, rather than Artificial Intelligence generally.
(The perennial decision about whether to delete, edit and repost, or to comment in an additional post!)

After 8 was really too late today-it was very warm & I was hunting for the shadows. I doubt I’ll manage to go early tomorrow though, as I won’t have to get up early to chivvy children off to school.
I’m back working next week, so will need to run early if I keep at it, even though it’ll be cooler.

I have done as intended, and finally taken myself off to a nice coffee shop for a self-reflection. It is slightly complicated doing a monthly reflection five months after last doing it. But still very valuable.
I’ve pencilled in a date to do this again in July.

Oh, I definitely spout random rubbish! But I can’t cope with planning & reading a script. I suppose I should try it sometime, but I take so long in planning my content & designing my slides as it is. I do (for conferences) plan for what I’ll talk about on each slide, but am random in actual words.

I’ve been leaving it late to run, and going but finding it very hot. Going to aim to actually get out once they’re off to school tomorrow, when it’s still a bit cool rather that dawdling.
Will miss this running every day once I’m back at work next week!

Friday 19th June 2020 included:
Sorted Pokemon cards (son),
Made Lemon Drizzle cake (daughter and son),
Played Mexican Train (all four of us)
3/14 activities listed.
I’ve had to be very selective today - so many good things!

This was an update of a big project a couple of years ago.

I will keep the bullet points and text heavy slides in mind, but the five words per sentence thing would be a struggle for me - having to speak to a script rather than being able to ad lib.
I’m interested, though, to do an analysis of some of my recordings and see how long my sentences are!

This slide includes Molly on the Moon because it’s written by @maryrobinettekowal.com, a favourite author (of adult books, such as the Lady Astronaut series). I’d wanted to get this for children in my life, but found & read it in Minneapolis Central Library, during my #ESIcon24 Conference trip.

Which seems to be happening at a very similar time. I only had a note about the conference on my list, and not a hashtag yet. @ciliphlg.bsky.social looks to have claimed the #icml2026 hashtag, but not the #icml2025

Having a notebook of the nice things helps me remember the positives more than the negatives of course.
And chess club and tournaments in person with friends has lots of advantages over what they were able to do (very successively!) online.

For us what we were able to do as a result of being at home had lots of positives (tho having a house and garden with two adults at home helped). It was the missing seeing family and the very slow transition to normal life (including changing schools without all the norms) which was a bigger impact.

Thank you. The chess strategies they’ll talk about now are a whole different thing (but then and now mostly beyond me…).
Having to be at home so much had a positive impact on my son’s chess interest and ability - nearly every day I’ve written ‘chess on computer’!

The fifth slide in my #DARTS9 presentation was another one where I had to be selective about what I said - there have been, & will continue to be, so many influences on my developments in evidence synthesis. I think I talked about the @blalib.org Systematic Reviews group here too. #systematicreview

It was partly the fact that I post so much about things I do get done, that meant I wanted to share when I’m feeling low about all the things I don’t get done. As well as knowing that sharing helps me feel better.
