The Department of Homeland Security, with help from DOGE, has rolled out a tool that purports to be able to check the citizenship status of almost all Americans.

Duke appears to have lost NIH grants because they used the prefix "trans" in reference to disease transmission, transgenic genetic material, translational studies, or signal transduction www.dukechronicle.com/article/2025...

weird how we see these guys find their spines when they aren’t running again — proving they’ve always been more concerned with keeping their jobs than DOING their jobs

ICE *already* can't meet their detainment numbers without rounding up children, veterans, people born in the U.S., people with no criminal records, people at immigration hearings, plus academics and visitors with valid visas. So who do they plan to detain with >10x the budget? The answer is: you.

Yuriana Julia Pelaez Calderon, an organizer with the Los Angeles-based Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment, was picked up by men in an unmarked car last Wednesday, and nobody knows where she is. She made a phone call late Friday and the information she gave is chilling:

this is the level of funding where all the possibilities for American politics that have been described as hyperbolic over the past decades - the comparisons to Nazi Germany and other nightmares of the 20th century - become logistically possible and politically likely

Total jackass, sure, but he’s also correct.

Trump and Senate Republicans like to call this a "Big, Beautiful Bill." Well, it's only beautiful if you're a billionaire. For everyone else it's a big, ugly betrayal. I'm on the Senate floor now speaking against this abomination of a bill. Tune in:

It's incredible that neither the president nor VP was here. The politicization of all facets of American life is coming from the White House. No other American president would have failed to pay their respects. www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2025/...

This is a lie (as usual). While I disagree with the decision, IT LEAVES THE INJUNCTIONS OF THE BIRTHRIGHT EO IN PLACE, just narrows them to the plaintiffs. And it does not limit nationwide class actions, which will be filed to achieve the identical outcomes. The EO remains unconstitutional.

We should all be disgusted by the flood of anti-Muslim remarks spewed in the aftermath of Zohran Mamdani’s victory in the NYC mayoral primary — some blatant, others latent. Shame on the members of Congress who have engaged in such bigotry and anyone who doesn’t challenge it.

The correct term is ‘assassinated’ or ‘murdered.’ The AP makes it sound like an accident.

A government ban on Hungary’s Pride parade backfired Saturday as over 100,000 people marched through Budapest, far more than usual PM Viktor Orban warned people to stay away, threatening “clear legal consequences.” But the warnings only turned a modest event into a mass rally against his government

Every major health system in Louisiana is warning Speaker Mike Johnson and the rest of the state’s congressional delegation that the Senate GOP’s planned Medicaid cuts “would be historic in their devastation.”

In 2020, when I told people that I was building a pro-democracy media outlet, people thought I was kidding. When I told them that the fight for democracy was the fight of our time, they thought I was being overly dramatic. Well...here we are. Subscribe to Democracy Docket now. hubs.ly/Q03jcjqP0

there is no jurisprudence at work here. the republican court believes that anything a republican president is presumptively constitutional, even if it directly violates the unambiguous constitutional text and causes total chaos in law and policy.

There is no more United States of America. "A citizen in New York is not a citizen in Texas" is stupidly unworkable, and we know it is because we went to war over it.

So am I reading this court decision correctly? We now have 50 micronations with their own laws interpreting the U.S. Constitution wholly separate from one another? But there's one guy with private law enforcement who is immune from all punishment who can do whatever he wants in those 50 states?

The Bove allegations should be treated as something akin to Watergate, or Iran Contra. The administration was attempting to do something they *knew* was illegal (anticipating the courts saying as much), and then trying to COVER IT UP. Only here instead of it being run out of the WH or NSC, it’s DOJ

If you need a mask to enforce the law, you don’t deserve a badge. Federal agents are snatching people off the streets—faces covered, names hidden. This isn’t safety. It’s secrecy. It’s not America. adamkinzinger.substack.com/p/why-are-fe...

Ten years after marriage equality became the law of the land, Pennsylvania still has a ban on the books. That’s why I introduced legislation to finally repeal it—because love is love is love. Standing here with my husband, Dr. Matt, I know exactly why this fight matters.

Today, Pete Hegseth bristled when a reporter pointed out that a woman was among the pilots in the Iran bombing mission and asked why he referred to the pilots collectively as "the boys." He ranted that it doesn't matter. Wasn't the election for them partly about defining the word "woman"?

Let’s be absolutely clear. This decision, based on fringe conspiracy theories, will kill children. www.washingtonpost.com/health/2025/...

I'm going to try and communicate with my Republican colleagues in a new way.

Most of this “press conference” is this lunatic yelling at the media. This guy is so obsessed with his press coverage that he can’t even function.

I’ve had a license to practice law for 36 years and I am morally certain that I’ve never met a lawyer who couldn’t truthfully, emphatically, and categorically deny ever having counseled anyone to say “fuck you” to a court.

This is NOT just cutting access to abortion. It’s limiting access to CANCER screening, birth control, screening for sexually transmitted infections. In a dissenting opinion, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson wrote, “Today’s decision is likely to result in tangible harm to real people.”

Despite the court order, Kilmar Abrego Garcia is likely to be immediately taken into custody by ICE, which has said he must be deported no matter what happens in his criminal trial.

People in wheelchairs are getting arrested right now in the Russell Senate Office Building in DC. They showed up to tell Congress not to cut their Medicaid, because they cant afford health care without it. If you look closely you can see the zip ties on their hands. #WeWontGetOverLosingMedicaid

Patty Murrays asks Russ Vought whether he will promise to not do pocket rescissions. Vought refuses. "Pocket rescissions" are illegal and would allow the president to rescind funds *even if Congress expressly forbids it.* Read more here: bsky.app/profile/bbko...

Mic drop.

Family separation is toxic. An Adverse Childhood Experience that negatively impacts health through adulthood, into old age. When we care about children, we take care of families. These boys should not have to be this brave. Children should not have to beg on TV for the release of their parent.

No child should have to do this. Our sympathies should be w/ the children whose lives are being devastated by ICE & by the local law enforcement that cooperates with them. Media should be covering these stories, humanizing the children affected, humanizing the parents who long to protect their kids.

HUGE: Senate Parliamentarian says that Mike Lee's public land sell-off violates the Byrd rule, requires 60 votes in the Senate. A bunch of other terrible anti-environment provisions do too. This isn't over, but this is a huge win. www.budget.senate.gov/ranking-memb...

Launching the U.S. into what could be yet another unpopular and costly forever war, while simultaneously pushing for an unpopular budget bill at home that will take food and healthcare away from millions of people. The "peace president."

it’s even more demoralizing when the history you’re repeating is history you were around for the first time

the amount of contempt vance has for everyone he's talking to — such that he'll say obvious nonsense as if he's fooling you — is genuinely remarkable

This seems a lot like a vehicle for bribery, like everything else in the Trump personalist regime. Want relief from tariffs? Payola to Trump. Reasonable drug approval reviews? Payola. Science grants? Payola.

Amid the threats of retribution from Iran following the U.S. military strike on three Iranian nuclear sites, critics have ramped up their scrutiny of the 22-year-old who was assigned to a major terrorism-prevention post by President Donald Trump. www.mediaite.com/media/news/c...

Host: Are you saying the US did not see intelligence that the Supreme Leader had ordered weaponization? Rubio: That’s irrelevant Host: No, that's a key point Rubio: No it’s not… Forget about intelligence

The war in Afghanistan continued through Trump’s entire first term, during which Trump negotiated directly with the Taliban, fully cutting out the Republic of Afghanistan we spent decades supporting, and then everyone blamed Biden when the Republic collapsed

The logic is pretty obvious here. Presidents can’t declare war so anything the president does without Congress can’t be a war. It’s not an assessment of what’s happening; it’s an excuse.

No money for Medicaid or SNAP or museums or schools or sidewalks or gun violence prevention or art or libraries. Always money for war.

Trump bombing Iran was illegal and unjustified. I ran for Congress to make sure our leaders consider the true costs of war. And I will be in the Senate, standing on my titanium legs, demanding answers from Trump. My statement:

UPDATE: At least *60* members of Congress have now signed on to efforts against the Trump-Vance admin's war on Iran. 59 Democrats. 1 Republican. After the attack, Democratic leader Chuck Schumer announced support for the War Powers Act and is urging all senators to vote for it.

There is no “one and done” in any conflict. The opponent always gets a vote, and unless we’ve prepped for all the things Iran may do we’re gonna have some surprises.

Several members of Congress in both parties question the legality of President Trump’s move to launch military strikes on Iran.
