NEW and major report out now about the situation in our universities, which is... not that good. It's clear that morale has collapsed, as predicted. I lied! No hotel in Paris yet - recommendations for a fabulous (but reasonable!) last night, somewhere around/between Gare de Lyon and Gare du Nord. We'll only have an afternoon and a morning so will prioritise nice neighbourhood and eating options over proximity to the sights.

With the QM UCU list and at least a couple more I’ve seen we are now north of 100 universities making redundancies. REF 2029 is going to be a shitshow. Like that time they tried to make Champions League qualification based in part on past performance.

More disastrous news from the joke governance of our university system. Research cash per staff member will only be withheld if you make staff compulsorily redundant - thus hugely increasing the incentive to force them out via the constructive dismissal practices that we know are all too common.
