Don’t take me the wrong way (I can see it can be read that way). I mean one vote’s difference and he might not have. Really deserving people often don’t win. If you win on a tie you’re both lucky it wasn’t the other contender by themselves. His talent was happily rewarded though.

30 years ago … for Best Live Action Short - Franz Kafka’s It’s a Wonderful Life. He got lucky because it was a very rare tied category.

On the positive side … no need to worry about that. We could all be nuked before then.

Great idea for the potential 2026 season with a very rich seam to mine.

I guess when a tall parent takes a small child to an event then they must be forcibly separated into their designated height areas? Illogical.

This doesn’t fall into that category but I’ve just been reading about Lou Christie who died yesterday aged 82. His 1969 hit “I’m Gonna Make You Mine” peaked at number 2 for a week (if it wasn’t for those pesky Archies!). Promo made for no good reason in a wrecking yard:

He’s now clocked up 3 more birthdays than Sir Ralph Richardson (‘Jim’ in this - a posthumously released appearance) and still full of life. We’re so lucky to have him.

Share a movie or TV character wearing earmuffs or headphones.
My choice: James Bond flying Little Nellie in You Only Live Twice.

The non-Lionel Ritchie song “Dancing on the Ceiling” will be from 1930, written by Rodgers and Hart. Popularised by Jessie Matthews many years before she shared a film (Tom Thumb) with Sellers and another (The Hound of the Baskervilles) with Milligan.

I certainly remember it being #1 and I think I can pinpoint my comprehension of the whole charts idea from Bobbie Gentry’s sole week at the top because I remember that too from just over a month short of turning 6. I recall records before that but not the charts.

The only time I’ve seen it in a cinema was in NFT1 with Eli Wallach in the audience (prior to him going on stage for an interview). I believe he sat through the entire thing. Earlier saw him and Anne Jackson stroll down the South Bank and in through the bar/restaurant entrance. No fancy cars!
