Once again, I joined the project pretty early on, so I don't think any of this actually made it into the movie, so I'm not sure how much I can say about it... but I hope you can still enjoy the visuals for what they are! Thanks for looking - you can catch Spellbound on Netflix!

it's in the past, though, so I just try to look on the bright side ๐Ÿ™‚

ha ha, well, for what it's worth, it's give and take - while something like that was admittedly very fun, the job as a whole was hardly without critique... ๐Ÿ˜… honestly, I'd happily trade a field trip for better pay or job security ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…

Shout out to my production designer at the time, @iurilioi.bsky.social for encouraging me to create & use 3D underlays for this assignment - it really helped with how many ideations we went through! Thanks for looking - you can catch Spellbound on Netflix, & stay tuned for more in the future!

Given that however, I'm not sure how much I can actually say about what this is specifically, but I hope you can still enjoy the visuals for what they are!

I don't think anything I worked on actually made it into the movie, but admittedly that's how it goes a lot of the time in feature, especially when you join early on - nothing personal!

Inspired by a photo from @sawtyruk.bsky.social - you can catch the process video here:

it still served as a good reference of how to paint dusk for other BGs, though! Just because something doesn't appear in the show directly doesn't necessarily mean it was a complete waste of time! ๐Ÿ™Œ

The sequence in the final looks completely different: different mood, different time of day - I think it works better in the grand scheme of things! ๐Ÿ˜Š Admittedly this painting was done pretty early on, so it was no surprise direction might shift down the line -

but that dynamic flow is so much more challenging than it looks! Someday I should create a library of graffitiย I can just drop into my paintings and Free Transform onto whatever surface it's on, ha ha - that'd make my life so much easier! Thanks for looking!
