It was actually the newly minted 16yo's idea two years ago when her older brother turned 16. It went over well, so my 12yo took the idea and ran with it it for her big sister.

Definitely! I have some very long hills between work and home, and I’m a bit jealous of the e-bikes that cruise by me going up the hills. Maybe someday!

I don't even have an e-bike and it's still sometimes faster for me to ride my bike the 3 miles to and from work than drive during the Boston suburban rush hour. It's very satisfying to cruise down the bike lane past dozens of cars idling in stand-still traffic.

The only reason my daughter can go is that her junior boyfriend asked her, but my son is going solo. My comments are, of course, tongue-in-cheek, especially considering I went to two proms myself (but it was waaaay cheaper, even accounting for 30 years of inflation).
