The speed with which people have decided to go along with this fiction and state it as fact is really bothersome to me. If I said I were in a serious relationship with a person who didn't know me (but I knew them), you'd know that was not right, because nobody else is in the relationship.

People need to read this book by Ronald Takaki. It chronicles the history of almost all groups that have come to the US and were marginalized. Things were said about the Irish, and so many other groups - they're dirty, they're taking our jobs, they're criminals - same ridiculous untrue statements.
