To take a break from protest (we had tacos last night. Yum!) here is an orchid. Pastel on sanded paper.

Thank you for your attention to this matter! #NoKings

Governor JB Pritzker said to Rep. Mary Miller: "I am not going to be lectured to by somebody who extols the virtue of Hitler." Finally, someone says it to their faces.

Me on lute. A distraction from the madness, but it is in a minor key and maybe a little ominous. Must work on relaxing! youtu.be/oZ6o3xBiOjU

My sign for the No Kings rally. Hope I survive.

Concept for my sign at the "No Kings" day rally.

So how did the German chancellor's visit to the WH go?

Slipped under most media radar. In sum, this Musk bro found government was not rife with waste, fraud, and abuse, stated so in an interview, and was promptly fired by DOGE in spite of its claims of transparency. Honesty in DOGE and this admin is a bad career move. www.npr.org/2025/06/02/n...

Apolitical feathers. Clockwise from top left: Actual feather, drybrush watercolor imitating technique of Rory McEwen, Conte Pierre Noire and sanguine on paper, more conventional watercolor technique to the degree I know them, with some drybrush. I confess to some color pushing.

Non political feather. Pierre Noire and sanguine on paper. I have done this feather lately in various media. I like this one best.

Whoever made this deserves a medal.

Just signed up for a research study at Mayo Clinic on fast geezer athletes (cyclists in my case) with dodgy hearts. Research questions: Am I geezer enough? Am I fast enough? Is my heart dodgy enough? Advancing the science!

JD is in the news lately (see piece in "The Atlantic). Big regret that I bought JD's book when it first came out. Will be first in line when "Hillbilly Eulogy" comes out, which can't be soon enough.

I just signed this important open letter from @standupforscience.bsky.social calling out the Trump administration's latest effort to undermine our research infrastructure. Please read and sign! #DefendResearch #ScholComm #AcademicChatter #Academia www.standupforscience.net/open-letter-...

Sangune and white chalk on toned paper

So was the great big horrible bill intended to distract from a week of unprecedented grift and graft, or was the week of unprecedented grift and graft intended to distract from the great big horrible bill?
