Dewpoints is 75 at national but nearly every weather underground station in the metro area is saying 77-80. Every way, with full sun, these tropical dewpoints and no breeze, you kinda just want to take a midday siesta lol

It looked like they’ve had 6-7 inches this month, which is a very solid surplus but at least one more month like this is needed to alleviate all the prior months of deficit. Tomorrow’s rain will probably eliminate the D2 zone, though.

What DC split? Here in College Park I thought we were in the split (and the supercell hit at its weakest so not a ton of rain from that), but then the southern cluster suddenly exploded NW and thwacked us and basically most of DC. We got close to 0.5 inches in ~10 minutes from that.

The forecast got more accurate yesterday I would say. At the very least, the NWS forecasters were aware by then that most of the daytime thunderstorms would focus between I-81 and I-95, and that’s exactly what happened.

Dewpoints approaching 70 today, way more humid than forecast.

It’s not quite that bad in DC area, but some of the news leaves are starting to look withered which is no bueno. We need this and then a repeat ~every week for the next few weeks. We had a nice soaking rain a few weeks ago but it just hasn’t been coming frequently enough.

Eh, more like 6.5/10. I don’t agree with it being low humidity. For July dew points in the mid-upper 50s is low humidity and pleasant, but this is April and we’re not used to it yet. Low humidity for April is dewpoints below 45.

I think it’s just patriarchy. This sort of power/hierarchy thinking long predates Christianity, and Jesus was preaching against that. Jesus was defeated not by suppression, but by the powerful “accepting” but then twisting his religion to be a continuation of the status quo.

It's not relevant now, but in the future it will be: aspiring fascism cannot be defeated by raising awareness and warning of aspiring fascism.

She did do everything she could to warn us, and she absolutely shouldn't have. It was a losing strategy. Swing voters didn't want to hear any of it.

Yep, although I sometimes feel like it goes on longer than 10 days for me lol (and yes I have recently been diagnosed with AuDHD). And sometimes I can be stuck on a particular genre for months if not over a year!

100% beneficial in the immediate DC area. The storms were tame, with several hours of back end rain. Looks like we'll get close to an inch in total, which is a nice amount (although a little bit more than that would've been welcome.)

What you do when someone attacks you like that is you counterattack. She should have gone on Joe Rogan, named some names, and called them out for being the unserious children that they are.

Sure, I get that republicans fight dirty, but democrats don't know how to fight at all. Harris responded to the propaganda that she wanted to change kid's sexes by defending herself and backing down from support of trans issues, which is all wrong.

Waiting for the “right” moment in this environment is lame. If she wants to return, she needs to take accountability and take charge.

The storm line was slower and stronger west. The stratiform rains were east. Look at southern Delmarva, that’s certainly a thorough drenching!

What is the process to remove him? A recall election?

I hope so, but from what I've seen, they love Trump enough that even if they know they'll suffer, they're willing to accept some personal loss for the "greater good." They're not strictly selfish and they never have been.

My hope was that we could stave off fascism long enough for progressives to build dominance, but clearly not.

I cared enough to vote against, but tbh the people who didn't have a point. How long were we supposed to vote against fascists just for a party of half measures and gradual decline? 10 years? 20 years? 40?

It didn't work the first time. It "worked" the second time, but my guess is it was more frustration with Trump than love of Biden/democrats.

You have to do both. I think Bernie's approach is best. Stay laser focused on the economic issues and on your own plans, but find succinct ways to slam Trump when the need arises. For example, spend time talking about how tariffs will hurt us. But slamming Trump can't be the main thrust.

I agree to some extent, but I also think anti-Trump messaging of any kind only goes so far, especially when you're the incumbent and Trump isn't. Harris needed to expound on her own merits, and in particular she needed to separate herself from Biden.

There’s social and there’s economic progressivism. They have to go together. Social progressivism all by itself is indeed not popular enough to win. The need for a serious economic structural revamp cannot be ignored.
