Albertans, my Change Alberta Facebook account, where I post most days on Alberta issues, has 8500-plus followers. If you aren't one of them, you might like to check out that account. I find Bluesky, like X, only useful for attaching stuff, not for providing any detailed account of anything.

Alberta will likely have a referendum on separating from Canada. It's a scam devised by a corrupt provincial government reeling from revelations of graft in awarding of contracts and in thrall to Big Oil which pretends that the feds, not investment decisions, are why no new oil projects are slated.

The potential for coal mines on the eastern slopes of the Rockies to toxify all waterways in AB and beyond is now so obviously scientifically proven that AB government insistence on developing such mines means that Gina Rinehart is paying the crooks who run AB off, maybe even more than Sam Mraiche.

Sad to see the NDP reduced to 7 seats. We need more than a new leader. We entered this election without a clear vision. We've focused on extracting some concessions from Libs that we put forth little of our own. We should have called for a massive social housing build with rents geared to income.

Thanks to David Moscrop for posting this interview with me about my book, Humans: The 300,000 Year Struggle for Equality, on Bluesky. www.davidmoscrop.com/p/interview-...

Good on Harvard for defending academic freedom. Yes, they are well endowed and can resist fascist Trump's demand that intellectuals only publish false information that suits Trump's uninformed, lying version of America's past, present, and likely future. But they deserve credit nonetheless.

Favours that fascist Trump is doing for Canada: 1) Ensuring that our own fascist Conservatives can't win our federal election since who wants mini-Trump as PM? 2) Aiding us with our doctor shortage by making ethical doctors flee a regime that insists on pseudo-Christian morality and pseudoscience.

TRUMP: The countries in the world that export more to America than they import are the reason why you are poor. TRUTH: The distribution of the US's enormous wealth is why you are poor. The US economy grew 70% from 1980-2014. The bottom 50% got none of it. The top .1% got a 322% increase.

The dazzle of monuments & wealth make us view the era between the Roman Empire and feudalism as "Dark Ages." For most people in Europe the opposite was true. It was a period when slavery and tenancy gave way to democratic peasant communities. They fought aspiring feudal lords, and sometimes won.

We need more cooperatives, mutual societies, self-help and voluntary groups to challenge corporate control. The Intercontinental Network of the Social Solidarity Economy promotes promotes sustainable economies with ecological and egalitarian principles. It is strongest in French-speaking Africa.

My new book: Humans, The 300,000 Year Struggle for Equality. Read it and you'll understand why what looks so grim right now will pass if we fight. This is a social history of humankind that reinterprets history on the basis of what slaves, serfs, workers, women, the poor have achieved.
