Here 🇨🇷 I often end up hauling a fan upstairs and downstairs most days. But not these last few days. Stubborn rain, 72 on the thermometer. Humidity jacked up, but I can live with this.

This sounds terrible from a creator's standpoint. Have the chance to do your "personal passion project" just to have it thrown to the corporate wolves.
Also why I'm going self-pub with some projects, at least until a truly decent offer comes through.

I live about 5 min from a big mall and sure there's a big sign there announcing it so I thought "well that looks good, I find the character and the premise likable". But that's all I've seen so far. Don't watch tv so I can't comment on that either.

"Writing is thinking" says a friend who also happens to be a techie.
And if you don't ever write... will you ever learn to think?
And if you don't learn to think... well you see how this goes.

Speaking of which: is bubble gum really-really banned on .sg? Is having it grounds for jail or is it just a wildly exaggerated tale? xD

Me I've got a Costco *credit* card (cuz that's where I spend most of my money anyway and well they give me cash points which have saved my back more than once). As with any CC, it's about how you use it and how organized you are with payments. 💳

I wonder which part of "profit off our own work as we see fit" is the one that irks techbros and their ilk who think everything online is up for grabs and for THEIR profit, and unquestionably so. I won't deny the fact AI is here to stay but that doesn't mean we have to accept their terms sheepishly.

This always reminds me of that phrase: “if you think you’re really free, try going anywhere without money” 🥲
I fantasize sometimes about switching places but the ones that work for me are somewhat too far. I’ve also considered libraries.

Our brains were never designed to deal with the barrage of information coming at us 24/7 now, something we forget easily while doomscrolling for hours.
Unplugging, using blocking apps (freedom.to is my choice), have screen-free activities — anything that helps keep damage at bay.

Ditto, not a gamer (precisely for these reasons), everything just got too highbrow complicated. Most often I don't feel like solving yet another quest at the end of a hard day - just give me some silly, mindless fun to unwind.

This better has a user toggle / opt-in option. Bsky will be digging its own grave otherwise (cue in dramatic music) 🎶

Me, it's about filling out the gas tank before they jack up the prices again. Wish I could afford an electric car I guess. 🚗

In my family's home the kitchen has long been the least thought out area, too narrow for anything and that includes the fridge that can fit there — those luxury French door style ones? No way. And remodeling is out of the question for now 🥹

It's never too late, even in these times of AI. Although if you're not *that* into learning code, I find WordPress to be a fair compromise. I use jekyllrb.com for my portfolio sites, but that's my choice.

Namecheap lives up to its name (snicker) up for the first year or so, but then they started jacking up prices on some of my domains. I’m still keeping some there but I’m gradually moving them all to Cloudflare which, for me, so far so good, although it can be overtly technical for beginners.

Creature from the tropics here. Humidity level rarely if ever goes below 60%, and I'm like 100 miles away from any beach. This alone is more bothersome than heat imo, which we've got plenty of too. And yet we somehow manage to live 🥵

One thing that got to me is that of having made decisions more based in pursuing golden carrots than listening to my heart so to speak (guilty as charged). Money is a necessary evil yet having it lead all your decisions will only leave you unhappy. My experience anyway.

That's a recurring impression I've got of Japan with regards to AI, politically and socially: a "meh, whatever" stance and policy. I find hard to believe Japanese artists not being seriously pissed off at this, and yet we don't hear much about them on this subject.
