Source: www.thelondoneconomic.com/politics/ed-... "The Liberal Democrat leader has urged the government to forge a new agreement with the EU to tackle the incoming Trump administration from a position of strength." This is just one of many such statements and policies.

There is a party with over 70 MPs in parliament right now with exactly this platform.

"No court order is needed for such en masse surveillance. The affected individuals wonโ€™t be told. There is no right of appeal. The information that DWP will demand has not yet been explained. The government has promised a code of practice but that has not yet been published" Thin end of a wedge.

Not excluding them entirely - but the recent NI increase has been a significant kick to an already struggling sector - same as in healthcare. Such that the benefit of the 3.1% Tuition increase this year (largely paid by the government) won't be seen - and they are just moving the same money about.

Something as simple as not including them in the NI increase - or even just not demonising international students to the extent that the world thinks we're a bigoted hell hole would be enough to keep many of these institutions in the black.

Not just perception, but reality. The Labour government is making a political choice to balance their books on the backs of the most vulnerable, didn't carve out NI exceptions for education, health or care sectors, but is floating ideas such as a tax cut for US tech giants to appease Trump.

Glad you're highlighting it @premnsikka.bsky.social - though must be increasingly embarrassing for you to be linked to the Labour party, when the government behaves this way. Incredible how it is turning the screws on those in need of benefits, but cutting taxes and scrutiny for US tech giants.
