This is why games like Little Nightmares and Inside are so great. Not a single word spoken or written in the entire game, but extremely detailed environmental storytelling. There are few definitive answers and you leave with a lot of questions. But you still have a good grasp of what it's saying.

I just need to add Zero Hour, Presage and Wrath of the Machine to this list. Some of my favorite missions of any shooter I've ever played. And that's coming from someone with Halo 2 as their favorite game of all time

I don't know if you played The Final Shape but the cinematic when you enter The Traveler and discover Transcendence felt like an arthouse movie to me. And this felt like it went even further in that direction. I love the completely different vibe compared to anything we've from Bungie before

Yeah I'm a bit worried about how the "seasonal story" thing is going to work out because there aren't a lot of examples of competitive games with that thing figured out. I hope there are like safe instances on the maps where you can do some story stuff without being interrupted by other players

This might sound stupid but have you tried moving them north and then blowing into the hole that opens up in the south, moving them east and blowing into the hole that opens up in the west and keep doing that until you've done it for all four directions twice?

That's so weird. I haven't listened to them in ages but I was shoveling snow this morning and for some reason I queued up some Trivium and BFMV classics in my headphones to motivate me 😆

I loove Citizen Sleeper's soundtrack. It's also the most Mirror's Edge Catalyst sounding soundtrack I've heard since Mirror's Edge Catalyst. And that's one of my favorite OSTs of all time.

I was playing this boss battle again the other day and thought "I miss Kyle's expanding circles tweet thread. I hope he makes a new one for Bluesky"

Not making any promises but I really want to play and finish either Disco Elysium or Baldur's Gate 3 at some point this year

1. Nine Sols
2. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
3. Balatro
4. Mouthwashing
5. Helldivers 2
6. Destiny 2: The Final Shape
7. Silent Hill 2
8. Marvel Rivals
9. Still Wakes the Deep
10. Minishoot' Adventures
Starting Lorelei soon though and from all I've heard, it sounds like a potential goty for me

That's as old as Gears of War was when Gears of War 3 came out.
As old as the original Modern Warfare 3 was when Titanfall 2 came out.
As old as GTA V was when Red Dead Redemption 2 came out.
As old as Destiny 1 was when Shadowkeep (THE FOURTH EXPANSION TO DESTINY 2) came out.

I think if you beat Lady Ethereal you can do the rest of the game. My recommendation if you run out of patience is just look up a video of someone countering the phase 2 attacks so you can mentally prepare for them without having to replay phase 1 over and over again just to die instantly on phase 2

You have at least one bullshit boss left but the final boss is one of the least bullshit bosses in the game. They're very difficult but also very straightforward. I told one of my friends when I beat it that "this boss has some of the most satisfying attacks to counter in any game I've ever played"

I'm glad you kept going! I haven't seen you post about it since I saw you give up on it a week ago. Something that worried me was that I'd heard multiple people who played up 'til the final boss and then put the game down because of its difficulty. Now that I've finished it, that's my favorite boss

These three sequences of attacks might be the most satisfying to counter in any game I've ever played.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst's writing is like a 4/10 at best, level design is awful in some missions, the engine it's made in makes it look very ugly sometimes but when I play it it's like I can see between the lines of code and I see the game that could've been so it's one of my top 15 games of all time

I told my brother yesterday that Split Fiction sounds like something that would be the work-in-progress name that you put down on your very first draft. And then they couldn't think of anything better so they just kept it.

I watched it yesterday and it was so good. There's a tension in the air when everyone is miced up in a quiet environment like that because small mistakes aren't subtle anymore. So you can feel that everyone is a little shaky and nervous as well, and they still killed it all of them. Super impressive

I experienced this exact thing just a few days ago. Also, I found it funny how this is a boss called Lady [something] that floats in the air, throws projectiles at you and is themed around butterflies and dreams/illusions.

Same. I wasn't even that hyped for AW2. AW1 was a 7/10 imo, Control was good but its ending left a bad taste in my mouth. Quantum Break was really the only Remedy game that I felt was consistent in quality throughout the entire game before this. And then AW2 came out and felt like it was made for me

I remember at the end of last year I was like "I have no idea what my GOTY this year is. There are no games I'm super passionate about." And then Alan Wake 2 came out and now it's one of my top 10 games of all time.
