This Missouri town was all in for President Trump. Then ICE detained a beloved member of the community, forcing residents to face the reality of his policies. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/28/u...

This should be seen as evidence of the crisis: federal judges fear that Trump will order U.S. Marshals to stand down on securing the safety of judges whose decision they don’t like. This is just devastating. www.wsj.com/us-news/law/...

Wow. This is major news. Judges discuss moving the U.S. marshals from the executive to the judicial branch. Not only would they protect judges from trump threats, but it would also make it easier for courts to order marshals to carry out court orders.

If you would like to know what it is like living as trans right now: I cannot think of a single week in the last 5 and a half years since I transitioned where a politician, celebrity, government or public figure of some prominence hasn't attacked trans people. It is constant. Never-ending.

🧵 This is a perfect example of how disordered discourse reshapes democratic politics, not by policy failure, but by the performative targeting of identity. Let’s unpack what’s happening.

If Manchin and Sinema believed in anything but cash, they'd haunt their asses.

Democrats lost another seat in Congress. This time with Connelly who they elevated over AOC to be Oversight Chair.

Project 2025 has all the bases covered from trans people to Palestinians.

Debating Trump about the mechanics of tariffs is like debating him about the mechanics of birth certificates when he was birthing. HE DOESN'T GIVE A SHIT HOW IT WORKS. HE CARES WHAT NERVES HE CAN PRESS AND WHAT POWER HE CAN GRAB.

This is an important and disturbing read…

Jim Jordan interrupted at a speech before Republican lawyers group with someone playing “Send in the Clowns.” Full marks. No notes. This is how it’s done, folks.

That's how being a bully works.

Expect more of this. When his economic policies fail or cause further pain- which they will- this will be the route to consolidating his power among an anxious base who will be wondering why their saviour is costing them money.

Only if Nicholas Cage is the warden....or an inmate. Take your pick.

“Across the 59 counties where electronic court records are available — home to over four-fifths of the state’s roughly 7 million people — Advance has brought one lawsuit for every 50 residents since 2015…”

Sadly, this appeals to a lot of my Gen X peers who were raised on Happy Days. They’re recreating America based on whites-only nostalgia for a decade they never experienced. It’s like if Gen Z tried to recreate the 1980s based on Stranger Things.

So, so much worse...

If Dems win a House majority in 2026, "Trump would almost certainly face a 2027 impeachment inquiry and his third impeachment. He’s matched most of the offenses that appeared in impeachment articles against past presidents, and now is forging new ground."

He's perpetually sundowner.

This May 22 dinner is a high crime and misdemeanor. A president of the United States can’t use the office to enrich himself in this way, from potentially anonymous donors for whom he might do favors. This is as textbook as corruption gets.

Project 2025 is all over Trump’s first 100 days in office. @dgraham.bsky.social says they “pushed as far as they could” early on, but @zackbeauchamp.bsky.social notes much of the overreach has been met with failure. They’re following the playbook, “granted, they're doing it very badly.” #Velshi

Yep. This was always the next step from the crazies. Rotting teeth America. arstechnica.com/health/2025/...

“Critical thinking is the kryptonite to fascism.” Trump’s attempts to remove so-called “improper ideology” from historical institutions is a threat to democracy, argues @kimberlecrenshaw.bsky.social. "The road to authoritarianism is paved with the creation of a mythic past.” #Velshi

In addition to this warning in March 2025, the Lemkin Institute also identified the entire “gender critical” movement as genocidal to trans people in 2022. If you wondered how genocide started in Germany in the 1930s, look around you. It’s starting here now. www.lemkininstitute.com/statements-n...

NEWS: DOJ is now formally refusing to acknowledge the existence of transgender people in its filings — to the extent of misrepresenting other parties' filings. This goes further even than DOJ did last week in referring to people as "trans-identifying individuals" in a Supreme Court filing.

One reason the new ruling is important: Judge Sweeney specifically rejects as unlawful Trump's invocation of the Alien Enemies Act because none of its preconditions have been met: we're not in a declared war or an "invasion" or "predatory incursion" perpetrated by a "foreign nation or government."

NEW damning details on Pete Hegseth: Minutes before U.S. jets hit Yemen, Gen. Kurilla sent strike intel through a secure gov system. Hegseth turned around and dropped it in at least two Signal chats—on his personal phone. Jet timing. Target locations. And he still has the job.

📣 We now have two fantastic Democratic women from Oakland County running for U.S. Senate next year. I’m proud to call both of them friends, and either would do an amazing job.

Great piece from @gregsargent.bsky.social on how Abrego Garcia was a victim of gang--why he left El Salvador at 16--not gang member The *only* judge to do fact-finding on this--and last judge to have a word on Abrego Garcia before current debacle--was Judge David M. Jones, Trump appointee.
