We get visited often by Jackdaws from the graveyard. This handsome devil seemed to be the victor in the battle of bread and rice crispies ...

To mark the 1st day of my 4th year without Alice I have an announcement: I’ve joined up with a determined group of women working to change the narrative around trans people. Women standing in solidarity with our trans siblings. Our first step is to ask cis women to read and sign our open letter ⬇️

Fantastic ending to Baroness Kidron's speech in the House of Lords yesterday, which led to the government's defeat on AI & copyright. Speaking the UK's creators: "Their property, their labour, is worthy of your protection - because apart from anything else, it is not ours to give away."

Response from my MP following a letter asking if he will share any words of understanding or solidarity with trans locals. Disappointing reply. Not unexpected. He shares the tired old slogan "legitimate concerns". Doesn't say what they actually are.

Today's mood is this really dodgy cat.

The Prime Minister imitating Enoch Powell’s ‘Rivers of Blood’ speech is sickening. That speech fuelled decades of racism and division. Echoing it today is a disgrace. It adds to anti-migrant rhetoric that puts lives at risk. Shame on you, Keir Starmer.

Today's mood is suspicious kitsch elephant.

I have the strangest desire to wear this as a hat on top of my long hair. And smile at people. "Look at my lovely scalped man hat", I'll say.

Well ... Bum! Just found out @bethanyblack.bsky.social was performing near by in Skipton and got all excited until I noticed it was today and I had just missed it.

Today's book. I post what I'm reading very inconsistently - but if I remember to then I like to share!

Realised I haven't given a #proofofcat since being on Blue sky. Here's my Molly, 19 years old, quite noisy, getting very stiff in her old age, but still loves to pose, as long as it's on her terms!

One of my goblins! Hand made by my twin. I name her Dorcas, though that is not her name ...

I collect the most delightful of shite.

A very belated thank you to @franceshardinge.bsky.social for actually taking the time to write me a proper ol' letter in January. I squee'd - and maybe even wee'd - a little. So happy to think about a very reluctant certain marsh horse living in a duck pond.

“Why am I so sad today?” I ask myself after staring at my little handheld sadness machine and clicking all the sad little things that will definitely make me sad

Why does this echidna look like he’s about to drop the hottest jazz piano album OF THE YEAR

My set up!

Current favourite books: Frances Hardinge, Unraveller Terry Pratchett, A Hat Full of Sky Katherine Addison, The Goblin Emperor Susanna Clarke, Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell TJ Klune, The House in the Cerulean Sea Adrian Tchaikovsky, Made Things Mervyn Peake, Gormenghast ... Great medley!

Here's to Terry Pratchett, whose books so significantly shaped who I am in weird and interesting ways. It is still painful to think he's not still riding this Life Bus with us all ... Is that why it's gone all mad? I'll drink to him and to his loved ones who have yet to follow. #gnu #speakhisname

Ten years ago, Terry took a walk with Death. We can only imagine what words Terry would have for the state of the world today, but to help us in that we can always head to our shelves and open a book, and for that we are so very fortunate. Thank you, Terry.

Currently re-reading Robin Hobb. I realised these books give me the same satisfied delight as with You-Tube videos of people making stuff, where you can hear every paper rustle, every stitch, every tiny plink of a miniature completition being set. But ... with words?
