Such a lovely engaging morning with a man that was once a stranger. Eventually, it turns into what do you do? “I’m a writer/director currently working on my first feature.” He nods. Smiles bigger. Turns out he’s in investment and works specifically with creatives.

The same gentleman passes by, smiles again. He compliments my smile and calls me “beautiful.” I “love your jacket,” I respond.
My friend chimes in and the circle of compliments continue (my friend looked amazing). My curls are 🤌🤌 today. And honestly, I looked cute.

While waiting for my friend / mentor at our usual Sunday brunch spot, a good looking and nicely dressed older gentleman walks in. We lock eyes and smile as he heads to the bakery counter.

Also, I directed, wrote and produced over 200 branded segments before I applied and got into film school. And, well, I’ve done it since for budgets as small as $20K up to $100+K. So just because I’m not a “networker” in the traditional sense, please don’t undermine me. I know what I’m doing.

I’m also the kind of producer that will bring in new folks to my team/not just work with the same folks over and over. Lastly, I believe in giving folks an opportunity to add to their resume. So pitching yourself to do my job when I’m literally doing it—is crazy. A Whyte person doing it is—racist 🤷♀️
