It's a way to spot surface ships with AIS turned off. That is definitely helpful, especially in remote areas.

Sure, but we are talking about a need for capabilities that far exceeds what anyone has right now. The sea is a difficult challenge even with modern technology.

There are several challenges. Just in Denmark we have more than 4,000 kilometers of critical maritime infrastructure to protect. This number is likely much higher for the UK.

Maybe in the future drones can help like that. So far there are big challenges with air traffic safety regulations so it isn't widely adopted.

Yes, of course you do something. But I think the quote above is correct:
”The high volume of maritime traffic makes it challenging to identify every instance of abnormal maritime activity.”
At least I can confirm that also in Denmark our picture of maritime activity is far from complete.

It is pretty hard to keep an eye on things at sea. You just have limited range of sight and a limited number of platforms to do it.

There are distributions for Linux made specifically to breathe new life into old computers. Ubuntu MATE is one of them, so I do think it's worth checking out.

I use mine a lot, but I’d probably consider installing Linux instead of replacing it. I just installed Ubuntu Mate on an old PC that was about to hit the Windows 10 limit, and now it runs great again. I later discovered that it’s a computer from 2007. 😆

I agree. I haven't used them to make an app, but I use Cursor for data science. It speeds up my work tremendously but you still need to understand what it is doing.

Exactly. It's a great starting point for a search, but you have to verify the information before using it.

I think Bluesky's algorithm it fine. It took a bit of pressing the "show more of this" or "show less of this" buttons, but now I am generally satisfied with the stuff it presents.

These people are of course also in the military, but many of her colleagues were cheering Trump along during his speech yesterday.
