Quoting Enoch Powell is never a coincidence. The Prime Minister knew what message he was sending — and who he was sending it to. Disgraceful.

BREAKING: A leaked recording obtained by @news.sky.com reveals top Tory Chris Philp admitted the UK couldn’t return asylum seekers to Europe post-Brexit, despite promises made at the time

"The UK is very good – much better than most European countries – at integrating migrants, because most Britons, and most migrants, want integration... The rhetoric and policy we saw yesterday will take us backward to a much uglier, and more dangerous, place." www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

I need you lads to understand that Europe has an average birth rate of about 1.4 No charismatic politician bothered to tell you how fucked that makes us. But as we get older, we need more care, more GP appointments… Without immigration we will have no pensions very quick.

Mainstream radio presenters like Vanessa Feltz are perfectly happy to contribute, in their own small way, to the rise of the extreme far right. Her interview with me on LBC just now was chock full of lies. Calls herself a journalist. Really I wonder how they sleep at night.

People want actual scrutiny of Reform policies in government- so on my LBC Sunday show today I did just that with newly elected Lincolnshire Mayor Andrea Jenkyns. Do have a watch. youtu.be/WzxfvcZkluw?...

“This is the nature of nationalist populism, whether it wears a red cap in Michigan or a turquoise rosette in Runcorn. It is expert at turning grievance, division+nostalgia into votes. But when it comes to governing, it will always fail. It offers an outlet for complaint – +has no answers at all.”

“Starmer needs to start governing. Labour need to stop triangulating and start running the country. They are wasting the term they were given, worrying about a second one. They can do a lot of good, if they stop being terrified of losing power in 2029 and start using the power they have in 2025.”

Ok well sure the election results tell us that change isn't happening fast enough. But they also tell us that you cannot focus on being "tough on immigration" when there is a party who will always be "tougher". You push voters right into their hands.

There are clear lessons so far - we need a fairer voting system & Labour needs a reset. Trying to out-Reform Reform doesn’t work. Instead of lurching to the right, government urgently needs to rethink its approach. It could start by addressing the genuine concerns of working people by taxing wealth

Just a thought, but maybe Labour's tactic of *Not reversing Brexit in order to keep Reform in check* isn't really working. 🙈🙈🙈 You can't fight populist lies by pretending that populist lies are the truth. #RejoinEU 🇬🇧🇪🇺

Will Labour take these election results to move closer to Reform UK rhetoric and policies, or will they realise they need to appeal to progressives

There's not a single crime in the history of the UK that would have been prevented by a bathroom bill. Not one Bathroom bills aren't about safety, they're about trying to exclude LGBT people from public life. That's it

The UK Supreme Court’s transphobic ruling on the definition of woman last week is a defeat for all women—even, ultimately, the self-described feminists celebrating it, and the women who will gain in the short term from their alliance with the carceral state. my latest for @thenation.com

So as expected the brazenly corrupt EHRC have rushed out insane "guidance" calling for a total ban of trans people from public spaces. From work to shops to school to service stations. Full segregation It's completely worthless. I'm not doing it
