Long stay immigration is done country by country. There’s no such thing as an EU-wide residency permit (aside from the LTRD which is a bit different anyway)
comment in response to post
Well a visa (and residency/work permit) for Gibraltar will be for Gibraltar only. Not for Spain/France/Portugal. So Gibraltar should decide. The fact a visa holder for Gibraltar (or Portugal or France) can wander into Spain unchecked are not reasons for Spain to be involved in issuing such visas.

No the extremists are the ones who “care so much” about Europe that they think the UK should be kept out of the EU because they say it can’t be trusted.

The voices that are heard are those that want to keep Brexit, and Labour people saying mustn't grumble, mustn't upset Mabel. Nobody is talking about 90/180.

He claimed to be retired ex EU commission if I remember correctly. I was quite shocked and hope his former colleagues aren’t anti UK.

There’s a whole circle of them. It could even be one account behind all of them.

Oh. I work in quite a female profession.

Felix Byrne is another of the unpleasants I had to block.

I find those types are worse in here. The’ve completely left X. Followed us here.

Yeah Aloke is just a disruptor I think. This other account looks new too and with few posts.

They often look cogent and correct but they are from my experience incorrect. He doesn’t have any expertise in this area, I think. Looks like a brexiter that just wants to disrupt. Is adamant we voted for this etc.
comment in response to post
I think that guy is a troll who wants to disrupt efforts to rejoin the EU or single market.

That is the document that provided the information on which our parliamentarians voted. It couldn't be much clearer.

Oh dear... you didn’t actually read the parliamentary briefing paper I showed, did you? That's the document prepared to brief our sovereign decision makers in parliament. It clearly states that an advisory referendum is not part of democratic process.

There’s a group of these people determined to demonstrate that we voted for this kind of Brexit, made our bed and must now lie in it…. Even if we voted to remain. They want us on the naughty step.

There are other professions that tend to be a majority of women. We don’t read so much about those.
comment in response to post
Yes “Aloke” if that’s his real identity is just wrong.

That's a clear MINority of those allowed to vote, which makes Andrew's point simply factual. Aside from that, a referendum is not an election, *everyone's* opinion counts in such a national opinion poll, even if they expressed their opinion by not voting. Revisionists claim Leave "won" the poll.

Perhaps your perspective is different to mine.

When you spend long enough telling people that what they have is what they wanted and freely chose, they eventually begin to believe it and stop desiring anything else. 1. do you believe they got that? 2. do you want anything to change?

You can’t assume something is communicated universally just because you saw or heard it.

What you're describing is literally what the leave campaign denounced as Project Fear! Yes, Remain said all those things, but Leave called it "the easiest deal in history" - keep what we've got but outside the EU. Cakeism. You're rewriting history like all leave voters. I'm assuming you were one.

This wasn’t what people were told. They were told one of following: 1. nothing about what would happen (needed to research themselves) or 2. they were told we could and would stay in the single market or 3. they were told something else by someone who would not be involved in negotiations
comment in response to post
No, it really didn't. None of that was specified. Hannan said "no one is talking about leaving the Single Market" and Farage wanted Norway style membership. The BBC website has an article a few days before the vote saying "What will happen to Northern Ireland" - answer, "no one knows".

Seems to be the case. Maybe we should block him.

That’s a non sequitur.

And French and German people in the UK who depended on their Freedom of Movement and vice versa.

Plenty of other countries demonstrate exceptionalist attitudes for that matter.

And don’t forget this was a vote to change the status quo.

I expect there are “facts” we disagree on.

I think that matters.

The reason this is so important to remember is because many Europeans feel upset and rejected by (all) British people. If they believe a majority voted for Brexit they may feel uncomfortable walking down a British high street. But the odds are for every 26 people you pass who did, 74 didn’t.

Let’s not debate it at all.

Well I interpret it as a criticism of all English people. How else could I take that? It’s derogatory to England and to English people.
