There's a new Expanse game coming! The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is described as a Mass Effect-like video game from Owlcat Games. This looks really, really cool, and I can't wait to play it. transfer-orbit.ghost.io/the-expanse-...

new pod out now!! open.spotify.com/episode/2oGf...

What I like about this is that it seems like it’s bringing the story of The Expanse full circle: it originated as a pitch for a video game! Here’s my story about how The Expanse came fo be: transfer-orbit.ghost.io/the-expanse-... #theexpanse

Book 20 of 2025: Swedish Machines: Sunset at Zero Point by Simon Stålenhag. This was a glorious read: his trademark beautiful artwork, coupled with a heartbreaking queer story about two young men who can’t seem to align despite their attraction to one another.

What’s your sign?

John Scalzi’s novel Redshirts came out on this day in 2012. I really enjoyed this one, and a couple of years ago on its 10th anniversary, I wrote a bit about it: transfer-orbit.ghost.io/meta-stories...

@scalzi.com product tie in?

Audible is holding a big, site-wide sale for the next week with all of their titles marked down significantly. My book, Cosplay: A History is 56% off (down to $7.92)! It’s narrated by Eunice Wong, who did a fantastic job reading it. If you haven’t gotten it yet, you can pick it up here:

I’ve got a new piece up on @clarkesworldmagazine.com! It’s a history of how we discovered Jupiter and how science fiction authors depicted it over the years. Fun fact I learned: it was a science fiction author who coined the term “gas giant”! Read it here: clarkesworldmagazine.com/liptak_06_25/

Happy Pride! This is one of my favorite pictures of me in costume ever: it was taken while I was marching with the Green Mountain Squad during the 2019 Pride parade in Burlington, Vermont. This was such a fun event: I think this was the loudest and most excited I’ve seen a crowd.

My house turned 100 this year and I wholeheartedly believe this. So many weird choices and patches all over the place. There’s an unholy mix of flat and Phillips head screws EVERYWHERE.

That guy.

I’m just going to point back to this: transfer-orbit.ghost.io/star-wars-an...

I have two mugs and a bowl from Eric. They're really stunning.

Yesterday, I published a report about the change in ownership of three of the SF's legacy publications: Analog, Asimov's, and The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction. After I published it, I got answers to my questions from two of the new owners about what plans they have for the magazines:

Yesterday, I published a report about the change in ownership of three of the speculative fiction genre's legacy publications: Analog Science Fiction & Fact, Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine, and The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction. 👇🏻

Earlier this spring, @asimovssf.bsky.social, @analogsf.bsky.social, and the Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction changed hands and are now owned by a new company, 1 Paragraph. transfer-orbit.ghost.io/asimovs-anal...
