If you are a member of Nationwide Building Society please consider voting against CEO Pay Pay of all directors Don't re-elect any director as they all have their snouts in the trough. Cast you own vote. Don't give proxy votes to directors. 👎👎👎👎

Glad to speak at cabinet today in favour of the congestion charge and consultation - arguing for weight based charging, so that smaller vehicles pay less. Thank you to all the residents who have been in touch with me about the scheme.

De-escalation and non-proliferation are great ideas. No nukes in Iran... Israel... North Korea... India... Pakistan... UK... France... US... Russia... China... #wato

Trump should note that the American Revolutionaries looked far weaker than the mighty British Empire, but nonetheless, with a fair amount of aid from France, they won the war. Ukraine is now fighting for its independence.

He's just saying all this mad far right pish to win the election and is going to tack to the left as soon as he gets into poweraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrgggghhhhhhh! Can you please take your awesome and sensible boot off my humble scumbag neck while I'm licking it Mr Prime Minister sir?

Looks like it will soon cost Brits as much for the right to enter EU as it already costs EU citizens for a visa waiver to enter UK. Massive Brexit lose-lose. www.politico.eu/article/eu-t...

Now that we know the Spanish grid instability was a voltage control issue, will Bjorn Lomborg retract his terrible OpEd in the WSJ where he blamed solar and wind and a lack of inertia? I doubt it. 🔌💡 www.wsj.com/opinion/the-...

Moscow resident, 72 year old Mr Putin, is very proud of his parrot Donnie. "He learns everything I teach him to say," he said. "Sometimes. I even think he might understand what I've taught him. I have to remind myself that he's only a dumb animal," laughed Mr Putin.

The US gives Israel $3.8bn a year in arms. But can’t stop it from starting wars. Israel’s latest strikes on Iran show who really holds power now, suggests Prof Natasha Lindstaedt. From The Conversation -- thanks!

Just reading that TRL which was a government research organisation as the Transport Research Laboratory and then became a charitable foundation has now had a big investment from a private equity company. Does this ever end well?

For Trump, a military conflict with Iran would distract from:  -Sinking poll numbers -A devastating (and unpopular) budget bill -Harmful trade wars  -Unleashing the military on American soil -Millions of people protesting his authoritarianism We must remain on high alert.

Thanks @zoejardiniere.bsky.social & @carladenyer.bsky.social - we ll be reading & absorbing this later!

The extent to which the "don't wait for facts, instantly endlessly blame renewables, something something inertia" crowd won the propaganda battle over blame for the Spain/Portugal blackout is pretty staggering. Slow official investigation left a void of facts, which that crowd happily filled.

There is literally nothing about Starmer's Labour that a traditional Labour voter would vote for.

Yikes!!! At what point will we get serious?

Vladimir Putin signed a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement with Tehran earlier this year. So, how does Russia view the escalation in the Middle East?

For years, I’ve worked to turn the Greens into a serious political force. Last year’s breakthrough - three more MPs - didn’t happen by chance. It was the result of vision, graft, strategy - and a huge team! 🟢 www.ellie-adrian-2025.org/news #TogetherWeWin

In the absence of responsible Government, here's what you can do to help preserve a liveable climate. Many people can't afford to take climate action without Gov support, but those who can are generally the highest emitters with the most responsibility. More info: www.bbc.co.uk/news/science...

It's time to abolish the Home Office. It is not fit for purpose & has totally lost the trust of every stakeholder it serves - We knew that already. So I looked into how it could practically be done for @carladenyer.bsky.social My NEW report out today 👇👇

Buy less, use it longer. Regulate brands. Red tape protects us and others and the environment, which is why companies hate it

Today, more starving Palestinians were lured into “aid distribution sites”. They went in hope that they might find a bag of flour. They were gunned down and murdered instead. What utter inhumanity. End all arms sales to Israel, now.

I have voted to decriminalise abortion. The 1967 Act really only set out grounds for exceptions from what stayed a criminal offence. Today we start to treat abortion rightly as a regulated healthcare choice. It should be a clear human right to access abortion when you need it.

🚨DEATH TOLL FROM AID MASSACRE IN KHAN YOUNIS RISES TO 70 Gaza’s Health Ministry says at least 89 Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks this morning, including over 70 who were gunned down by Israeli soldiers as they waited for food in southern Khan Younis. Footage from Nasser Hospital.

Most of the replies are complaining that he limited his deportation demands to Pakistanis rather than all Muslims. Utter utter cesspit.

The attacks across Gaza today have been extreme On AJ Live, a witness said two bombs dropped in Khan Younis and around 200 people were killed, he said they couldn't reach all of the victims (to bring their bodies to the hospital) This Guardian article is useful for scope, jesus christ

At Selfridges I announced the results of the Oxford Street consultation. Around seven in 10 Londoners back our transformative proposals to regenerate Oxford Street, with two-thirds specifically supporting the idea of pedestrianisation.

We in the West are guilty of letting this happen. The worst is Donald Trump, who is giving Putin complete impunity to commit these atrocities. Trump is an accomplice in Russian war crimes.

Nasa data reveal extreme events like floods and droughts are now • Twice as frequent • Longer-lasting • More severe Yet just when the world *really* needs to get its act together on climate collapse, it feels like we're ever more at the mercy of fools and madmen. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/j...

Tonight I have voted to decriminalise abortion. I did so because I believe these changes to abortion law will protect vulnerable women. Today Parliament is clear that abortion will rightly be treated as a regulated healthcare choice.

America's descent into suppression of dissent 🧵 I've been tracking Trump's actions since Jan and have included 93 actions that I consider to suppress dissent. They fall into 4 domains and their use is quite different over time. 1/16
