Another good day with the Association of Lighthouse Keepers tour of Anglesey. We went to Holyhead Breakwater lighthouse, where we climbed the tower, and also to the disused Admiralty Pier/Salt Island lighthouse at Holyhead Port.

An excellent day today with the Association of Lighthouse Keepers tour of Anglesey, visiting the Skerries and South Stack.

I've updated my new Lighthouses of Wales website!

We had an excellent excursion over the weekend, visiting 3 churches on Anglesey owned by the charity friendlesschurches.bsky.social‬, in the company of their director Rachel Morley. We saw Bodwrog, Llanbeulan and Tal-y-Llyn. To join the Society go to: https://www.hanesmon.org.uk/aaswp/membership/

Does anyone know the location of the missing Telford milestone near Holyhead? 82 of the distinctive markers along the Holyhead Road/A5 from Shrewsbury survive, but the one 2 miles from the port has disappeared. www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-w...

A quick guide to 1,500 years of history in Bangor, Gwynedd:

“It was a hot sunny day, the sky was intensely blue, and there were wonderful views of the Anglesey landscape and the mountains of Eryri and Llyn. The hedges were a mass of hawthorn blossom, and the churchyard was full of bluebells and campion.”

We held our AGM last night, followed by a excellent and amusing talk by Arwyn Owen, 'Anglesey's Hidden Prehistory', about his PhD work tracking down previously unknown prehistoric sites. Would you like to join the society? Details at www.hanesmon.org.uk/aaswp/member...
