Bottom line is that if you haven't voted yet, please go out to vote tomorrow in the primary and DO NOT RANK CUOMO. I'll be out in the heat wave NOT RANKING HIM. We need to turn the page in this city.

today is the most amazing day

I wonder how much free Hermès Mamdani's team had to lavish George Santos with to get him to endorse Andrew Cuomo . . .

Jessica Ramos basically admitted to Brian Lehrer that she thinks Trump will punish and single out NYC if Mamdani wins and that's her justification for backing Cuomo First off, STOP MAKING DECISIONS BASED ON FEAR. Second, stop giving that man more power by rewarding his racism with cowardice. FFS

don't really even know what we can say about the information environment anymore. the justification machine working so efficiently that it has replaced military intelligence.

if you don’t want your ads to run next to nazi social media posts, the government says “too bad,” you have to.

Funny, that.

if you've had a shitty week, here's the fantastic news you needed: solar is SO efficient now that nothing else really comes close. Solar farms like this- under which other countries plant crops that thrive in the controlled bright shade- are the easy future. this makes me sleep okay at night 😌

Just to recap: -- Trump admin concedes they don't know if Iran's supply of uranium was destroyed -- Some intel suggests that both the uranium and much of the equipment for developing weapons had already been moved from the targeted sites -- The world is probably less safe than it was on Saturday

"Do you want America to be at war with Iran?" No: 85% Yes: 5% YouGov / June 22, 2025

i am BEGGING you before you pop off about paywalls to go to your local library's website and scroll through their digital resources. mine gives me access to NYT, WSJ, WaPo and if its linked with PressReader or a similar app, all the news magazines, sports, fashion, hobby etc. FOR FREE.

I'm sure the US Marines Trump sent in to help ICE are just thrilled with this.

OK, one last repost on this, then I put it back in its box for a hundred years. (Or one year.)

Mamdani, Lander: This city rules. We think we'd do a good job running it. We'd like your vote. Cuomo: From Yonkers to Mineola, New York is the place I call home. Here's a rapist I'm friends with who used to be in office 25 yrs ago. As an Italian I think it's natural to be suspicious of the swarthy

My advice would be, do not under any circumstances elect Andrew Cuomo as your mayor. In fact, stop electing horrible mayors as a general policy. This isn’t that complicated.

there are things he's doing that literally every Democrat could learn from—his use of multilingual campaigning is brilliant

NEW: The alarming provision in the GOP tax bill that makes it nearly impossible to sue the Trump admin for breaking laws -- essentially allowing Trump to operate as a king -- is likely getting axed after the Senate parliamentarian ruled it breaks Senate rules. www.huffpost.com/entry/gop-ta...

Sometimes I just _don't get_ fashion. I don't want to look like an 8-bit 1980s video game alien just ate half my head. Prada Spring 2025, via @mjmimages.bsky.social

Beyond the basic issue that the MLR undoubtedly gets many more submissions than it can possibly accept and maybe these just weren't All That, there's the more important principle that in fact _reading scholarship from people with diverse life experiences matters._ I want to learn what I don't know.

Today I learned that a super early trans healthcare clinic existed in Galveston, Texas in the 1970s at the University of Texas Medical Branch on the Island. It was run by Dr. Paul Walker, who would help found what would become WPATH. www.galvnews.com/news/galvest...

It will never stop being a mindfuck to see the whole “we WILL confirm Trump nominees and vote for stupid Trump policies, but we have to draw the line somewhere: brown socialists who want to tax billionaires are TOO MUCH. We gotta go for the sex pest.”

Charlotte Bennett, the former staffer Cuomo's been hounding in the courts since she went public with his sexual harassment of her, appeared with @lindseyboylan.bsky.social at a Brad Lander event yesterday. If you haven't yet voted, making things less shitty for Cuomo's victims is a reason to do so.

the amount of contempt vance has for everyone he's talking to — such that he'll say obvious nonsense as if he's fooling you — is genuinely remarkable

No one wants to hear that <checks notes> Iran currently has a more active & functional parliament than the United States of Just This One Guy Can Do Whatever He Wants Because No One In Congress Who Swore Oaths Will Do Their Damn Jobs

All I want to hear out of Democrats is that we had a deal and no bomb. Then Trump tore it up and he is now putting American lives in danger. That’s it.

Um, apparently I just won two Locus Awards, which is great! Except that somebody had to read my acceptance speeches, which were about sloth poop and canine transmissible venereal tumors, and can someone tell me who read those so that I can send them an apology fruit basket?

Personally I am unfamiliar with any legitimate activity that requires switching license plates, which by the way is illegal.

I feel like it’s hard to have discussions on AI because very reasonable positions are being treated like they’re saying “all AI bad, good AI impossible.” But we cannot have a reasonable discussion of AI without talking about who is making it and how.

WASHINGTON—With the United States facing a daunting array of problems, leading historians reminded the nation that when making tough choices, it never hurts to stop, take a look at similar situations from the past, and then think about whether the decisions people made back then were good or bad.

Trump bombing Iran was illegal and unjustified. I ran for Congress to make sure our leaders consider the true costs of war. And I will be in the Senate, standing on my titanium legs, demanding answers from Trump. My statement:

If you need cheering up, here is my favorite feature of Frederick Douglass’ home in DC, which I visited today: his “growlery,” where he would escape to read, write or fume. What I wouldn’t give for my own growlery

it’s even more demoralizing when the history you’re repeating is history you were around for the first time

The United States should not wage war against Iran. Donald Trump’s bombing of Iran is unconstitutional. Only Congress can declare war — and the Senate must vote immediately to prevent an another endless war. This is a horrific war of choice.

Why do the Tiger family have tiger curtains? I also remembered today how Phineas & Ferb did antifascist commentary long before #Andor: "Why am I still on sock detail when Gladys from Accounting got promoted to Commander, & she doesn't even know how to hold a blaster? www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSBr...

Scary. The attack, which came on the ninth night of the unprecedented war between Israel and Iran, could provoke retaliation from Tehran against U.S. troops and military installations across the region. www.axios.com/2025/06/21/u...

Memories...

Right before I saw the message from Trump I got a very different one from a friend in Tehran, so deeply surrounded by bombing that he was asking me to help communicate his last wishes. This is what my own taxes fund, so much pain upon my loved ones. We are complicit in so, so, so much violence.

Well, I, for one, am glad that unlike in all previous wars of choice this time, we finally have a clear end goal, an exit strategy and meaningful Congressional oversight to make sure our elected leaders don't do some crazy shit

I am glad that today the governor signed a new law repealing New York's ban on providing food and water to people waiting in line to vote. However, it should be clearly noted that this was the result of successful litigation brought by the Brooklyn NAACP -- which the state fought and lost in court.

Why you need to rank Mamdani — even if he’s at #5 — in addition to not ranking Cuomo www.nytimes.com/interactive/...
