Bernie Sanders is 83YO & has already kicked younger progressives out of his lane in previous elections. While his fire and passion is still clearly there, his energy is lower, and if you don't see him as part of the problem in terms of hindering the rise of other leaders, you're cherry-picking.

I think malicious compliance with Mahmoud looks more like giving parents access to Powerschool--which many schools do anyway--and having some system where you have to file an opt-out form at least three days before the lesson and be able to come pick your kid up during that class period, etc.

I was really upset that some Moms for Liberty had won some local school board races - and so I volunteered and door-knocked and voted to replace them with more progressive candidates. I didn't retaliate by demanding that all books with patriarchal gender norms be banned from school libraries.

In her dissent from today's decision—Mahmoud v. Taylor—Justice Sotomayor says that the court's holding "threatens the very essence of public education," and that its "reverberations" will be felt "for generations." This is a very heartfelt and mournful dissent. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...

I want to reiterate that countless conservative judges issued universal injunctions against the Biden administration, and the Supreme Court never halted the practice. Now, barely five months into Trump's second term, the court puts an end to these injunctions. A brazen double standard.

It's more subsidized than free, as I recall, but yes, still a quite nice apartment- but also notably one that Zohran Mamdani himself will never inherit or have any property rights in.

If they know anything about the boxes, it's also because all the clothing is also gender-neutral, so not only will a racist's kid be wearing the same thing as the Black or Brown baby next door, but they might not be able to rigidly gender-sort kids on the playground - & some might be trans!

Last: If you want a profoundly thoughtful and well-articulated argument about some of these issues, I strongly recommend M. Gessen's piece here. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/24/o...
