One of my favourite walks in inland Dorset goes through 3 villages collectively called the Tarrants. The wisteria looked stunning on my birthday, it made me feel so blessed to be born in May. #naturewriting #wisteria #blossomwatch

Hello––Is A River Alive? is published in the US & Canada on 20 May. I am coming on tour––dates & locations below––& would love to speak of the book’s ideas, people & rivers to as many folk as possible while I'm out there. Please let anyone know who you think might want to come to an event. Cheers!

Happy Earth Day 2025! 🌏 Imagine living in a world which constantly whispers it's secrets to you. Stories that tell of creation and destruction, of magic and mystery, of beauty and power. This is a remarkable world where the keepers of such extraordinary stories are the rocks around us.

I watched about 10 minutes of the pre-coverage in astonishment. No amount of diverse presenters can make such a privileged, niche event accessible to the majority of viewers. What are your thoughts? Does anyone actually care who does not have an affiliation to these 2 institutions?

Spring is when Dorset becomes the most beautiful place to live. Here is the crystal clear waters of the River Stour, a chalk bed stream 🌸🩷🀍 #naturewriting #nature #dorset

I am arriving in Reykjavik (on a cruise) on 16 June, leaving 17th June mid afternoon. Can anyone recommend a private overnight tour so I can see the geological sights? #iceland #geology #nature

What's happening in Volcanoland this week? Mt Marapi, Indonesia erupted. There's a nice time lapse of the ash cloud eruption in the BBC News website.

I am meeting people at the Society of Applied Anthropology Conference whom this is impacting in real time πŸ’”πŸ˜”

I visited the Chachalu Cultural Centre on the Grand Ronde Reservation to pay my respects to Tomanowos (also known as Willamette Meteorite), an ancestor of the Clackamas and Chinook people who came to Earth from another world. I am standing near to where the ancestor was before it was taken away πŸ’”

I made it to Portland OR! βœˆοΈπŸ™πŸΎ I spent the first day walking to Washington Park to pay my respects to Sakagawea, a Lemhi Shoshone woman who travelled 1000s of miles helping Lewis & Clark through the Pacific NW. Powerful & iconic in a beautiful setting. #naturewriting #indigenousknowledge

Brilliant 🌟

UPDATE! Virgin Atlantic have been super efficient as have Netflights. I am rescheduled to fly to Seattle tomorrow at 1pm and then take a connecting flight to Portland 90 minutes later. See you at #SFAA πŸ™πŸΎπŸ€žπŸΎπŸ˜Š

I arrived at 4.30am to a pitch dark Terminal 4 for a 6.30am flight to Portland Oregon. Police told my taxi driver to take me home, no flights out today. Will I make it to the Society for Applied Anthropology Conference, I sure hope so! 😭🀞🏾
