Exactly what you have said. I expected to find one day on a blanket, passed away from old age. It has been utterly horrific for all of our family πŸ’”

It's a non fiction book aimed at grown ups, so ideally aged 16 and over. Depending on the response - we could be looking at a middle grade version! Ideal for Rock watchers!

Thank you Alan! Of course I would love colour plates, sprayed edges - the works. But I am realistic about budgets and thankful for the amazing work I have created 🧑😊

That is a huge oversight! Thankfully I have a timeline, a plate tectonic map and a rock cycle diagram to help readers πŸ™πŸΎπŸ˜Š

Budgets restrict colour photos and illustrations 😞 It has diagrams at the start and then greyscale photos peppered throughout. But the writing does the heavy work for you - feeding your imagination to think & feel the rocks.

The release for the US edition is 14th October and it has an equally beautiful cover! www.anjanakhatwa.com/writing

My OH entered the ballot for London but will default to Brighton if he doesn't get it. And agree - other races are available through amazing cities & landscapes!

I am not sure if this is the case? I have colleagues working at universities in that state who are still researching/teaching despite the current funding crisis for such work.

Would you like to enter this world and become a rock whisperer like me? To hear the most extraordinary stories that have shaped our world and our lives? Pre order The Whispers of Rock: Stories from the Earth today, Link in Bio πŸ”—

For the last few years I have listened carefully to those who have also felt that connection - from scientists to Indigenous people - the wisdom that has been shared with me has irrevocably altered me.

Well in the geological past, colossal rates of weathering of rock triggered ice ages! Really interested to read more about this research - but also concerned about the arfticially induced degradation of rock and impact on communities and nature.

Yes it would. We are so very tired of this corruption and abuse of our culture. This particular brand of feminism is not inclusive or respectful of cultural heritage. Lack of engagement speaks of fear & guilt, they know it is inappropriate.

I am sorry to hear that Rosie 😞 I do not know Cally or anyone at Headline. Noone responded to my question when tagged. I don't want to cause a pile on, I just wanted to know how they got to that title.

Thank you so much! We are so close to the finish line now. I assure you the wait will be worth it, a renewed way for all of us to consider how rock and landscape impacts our lives!

The Whispers of Rock explores how we can reconnect with our geological world through a sense of love and custodianship. It explores the science behind how our world formed & places this knowledge equitably with Traditional Knowledge. Released 4 Sept 2025 (UK), 14 Oct 2025 (USA) πŸ™πŸΎβ€οΈ

Travis Stewart is the curator and artist who helped me tell the story on The Whispers of Rock. We felt a deep connection in our love and reverence for Tomanowos & indeed the animacy of the natural world. It was unforgettable how we both felt unified in that moment ❀️πŸ₯²

Fragments of Tomanowos were taken for scientific research & the Grande Ronde Tribe have been campaigning for the repatriation of the remains. Three fragments are cared for in the museum. I was given permission to hold the ancestor (out of shot), a deeply profound moment.

Tomanowos is a story that features in Chapter 10 of The Whispers of Rock. It is a story of sorrow and loss but also of reverence, love & reconciliation. The ancestor is cared for at the American Museum of Natural History & Grande Ronde Tribe regularly visit it. www.amnh.org/exhibitions/...

Hi Dave, I have just finished my book The Whispers of Rock and there are some pretty gruesome stories about geology in there but I would need to check with my agent and publisher first...! Thanks for the rec Becky!
