I'm remember finishing school and being 1-A for the draft during Vietnam. Got lucky and they ended the draft before I got called. I don't expect a draft but there have been a lot of surprises this year.

Aldi has a quite refreshing Vinho Verde wine, $4.99 a bottle, and a decent Covista Mexican Lager.

Boomers were also draft age during the Vietnam war and that makes them hesitant for more.

I've been mid south all my life. Right now temp 89, feels like 109, 78% chance of rain. I would not want to live anywhere that gets colder in the winter.

2/ For the last five years, MAGA has been bathed in political violence.
Most importantly, MAGA's celebration of January 6th and Trump's decision to pardon ALL the Jan 6 rioters - including the most violent - became a clear endorsement of violence committed in his name.

I remember when Gulf Oil had postcards you could fill out and mail, and they would mail you a map with the trip marked, all free. And maps at the station were free too. And they came out and pumped the gas and checked the oil at all the stations.

I watched a rerun of an old NOVA show on PBS last night, and by chance it included a lot about Vera Rubin. I learned a lot. Thanks!
