The right wing looks at the lack of representation of conservatives among faculty and sees it as evidence of bias, or lack of intellectual diversity, rather than selection effects because few people scientists see themselves welcome by the GOP.

I do appreciate that the AP quoted the university president (Fitts) as asking "how does this apply to the clinic's work?" and then immediately showed how the study was included in a legal filing by the clinic.
But the dean (Burke) should have stopped that question in its tracks.

Also, how do you have misgivings over ... the law? Petrochemical companies are corporations, and corporations have a fiduciary duty to prioritize shareholder value, which means, well, putting profits first.
If THIS is the sort of claim that leads to gag orders, that's very much not good.
