It makes me mad that they touted Ava DuVernay's participation and then didn't include any of her films

I LOVE DAISIES SO MUCH and yes

That more complicated. Scrolling thru I see about a quarter with an indisputably non-male lead character. But is Little Miss Sunshine about a woman (girl)? Phantom Thread? In the Mood for Love? A lot are about CIS-het or family relationships. See your point tho, esp when men tell those tales

Shocked that these films didn't make the list: Selma, La Cienága, Zola, Atlantics, Pariah, St. Omer, Love and Basketball, Real Women Have Curves

While this may "reflect" opportunity, it also shows that women's work and esp work by BIPOC women is not being welcomed into the canon, even as there is so much more of it being distributed!

What about Yorkville (extreme upper East side)?

I mean Joni has that omnivore side, but it’s not that evident on the surface

In the Mood For Love has the most beautiful final scene in maybe any film ever, btw. Spoiler alert I guess? www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvlr...

I deliberately went against canon and only for audacious films. I LOVE Drive My Car. Also love Arrival! Definitely my top film of the 2020s. I think In the Mood for Love will be at the top of the NYT poll when it's all said and done, with Mulholland Drive at number two.

I almost put Zama, which was my first of her, but La Cienéga is perfect.

Got ‘em! We need to have you and Barry over so you can see in person what Habitat Landscapes did! However my back won’t allow me to garden myself. I’m glad others could help
