Federal law requires immigration officers to identify themselves and state their authority to detain someone “as soon as it is practical and safe to do so”. If agents do not identify themselves, a person may reasonably believe they are being attacked or kidnapped by criminals, not law enforcement.

The question is- how can a person so ignorant of Shakespeare be the head of a school?

Moved from southern England to Scotland. Standing at a bus stop in Edinburgh, I got talking with an old guy.
"How are you liking it here?" He asked.
"Oh It's great" I replied "and I love your accent."
"You're the one with the accent sonny!" He snapped.

We weren't actually that bothered by Prog. It was more the bland AOR and granny-clapping novelty hits clogging up the charts that we hated. Sweet, Mud, Roxy and Bowie were influences and, as others have remarked, Lydon was a Beefheart, Van Der Graaf Generator and Can fan.

Most egregiously, the thrust of the 'jokes' were about how "woke" Doctor Who is now. Dead Ringers used to consist of sharp satire on current events. Seems it's now content to parrot right-wing tabloid 'opinion' as hilarious observational comedy.

Bowie - The London Boys. I was sure he sings the proto-vegan
"You can't eat a thing cos the meat is dead" rather than the paupers "you can't make a thing cos the meter's dead"

I have travelled both in Europe and elsewhere. The immigration gates at European airports are usually friendly and efficient. Other countries can be more officious but nowhere have I encountered the level of hostility and suspicion levelled at innocent tourists by armed officers than in the USA

We won't go near the USA until MAGA is deposed. Even then We'll think twice. Our last trip, two years ago was fraught with stressful incidents. Getting through immigration, before you are even allowed to leave the airport is like being interrogated by the secret police. You're made to feel like crap

What are the odds on Donny turning up in some kind of military cosplay like a Mango Mussolini?

Earl grey, a large leaf China tea flavoured with oil of bergamot, is one of those fascinating cultural signifiers beloved of the class-obsessed English. Drinking it does not in fact signify "classiness", quite the opposite. True upper class people would much prefer a pot of loose leaf Indian blend.

Because I feel I may offer some expertise (I am English, a writer, have lived in France and managed a retail tea and coffee importers) I have a few, possibly unnecessary, thoughts. As a relaxing beverage a Frenchman would favour red wine, a pastis or small espresso over tea any day.

Picard's supposed to be French but is mostly written as Posh English.
The STNG writers room clearly thought "posh English = drinks Earl Grey" because Americans don't understand tea or how the English drink it. Hilariously he demands "Earl Grey. Hot!" As though you might ever drink Earl Grey cold?

I've a theory that Americans performing Shakespeare in their own accents might approximate closer to how English actors might have sounded in Shakespeare's time. The English west country intonation particularly being close to modern US accents with rhotic 'R' sounds etc

Totally agree. Note how the Fairies, the Court and the Mechanicals are all written in discretely different poetic styles and meters to emphasise the differences between them.

I will enjoy imagining the Billie Piper Doctor (I don't for a moment think we’ll see more than a special or a Xmas episode with her) but I've no interest in pouring salt in the wound by watching "The War between the Ratings and the Streaming".
