Haha yeah role player isn't accurate, Murray is a star, not quite super lol. But my point is a team is needed. In the finals Luka showed up, Kyrie was a stinky, role players on Mavs shot 19% from open 3s. Luka definitely couldve been better defensively

Only if you wrongly believe trading a guy who's gone to wcf 2x and finals 1x before 26 for a guy who's never done that as the #1 without the arguable GOAT still in his prime and a shortened season + has fewer all NBA 1st team appearances even with 6 more chances to get there is the right move
😂

True but how many get to conf finals 2x and finals 1x as the lead player before they're 26. It's a short list.
And fair I have no idea what you do, but I too am just a random dude on the internet who loves hoops

Every star needs big time help from role players to win it all. It's the same for all Superstars
Arguing you can't win bc he's not elite on D is invalid when he wins enough to get to the finals. Giannis is an incredible defender and has been to the finals 1x, Booker is a good defender and went 1x.

Jokic won a finals less than 3yrs ago and is a defensive liability. I agree with you, but if you have an all time great offensive talent + abv avg defense it'll beat a very good 2 way player led team. SGA is a yr older than Luka and hasn't gotten out of rd2, Boston core has been together 8yrs

Ah I see another mad about something that isn't actually happening problem is resolved by either a) nothing happening or b) money going to Paxton

But I agree with you, there's a big difference from being an avg defender and an avg defender who puts in effort. Luka with poor effort is horrible, but when Luka is focused and puts in effort he plays good defense (see games 3-6 of clips and thunder series from last year)

Irony is the healthy (big asterisk) Mavs roster with Luka is a title contender bc it's built to maximize his strengths and minimize his weaknesses.

They were the #1 defense after the trade deadline last yr. You can win with your star being avg/slightly below on defense if they are offensive engines surrounded by good versatile defenders (see Jokic, Dirk, Steph) I never expected Lakers to do much this yr, they're a flawed roster.

Psst. it's me from reality, you're a franchise player if the franchise built around you goes to the finals and the wcf 2x before your 26 while making all NBA 5x. Also psst, If championships are the metric Michael Jordan wasn't a franchise player till he was 27

Yes, he is out of position and slides/dives back towards Ja to intentionally foul him in a dangerous moment. This is a common occurrence for Lu

Oh no way Lou Dort is in the frame? Totally unexpected he of all players would be near a player taking an awkward landing

Agreed, and especially not with the national love he'll get for his routine playoff moments that will now be actually be given proper credit since he's wearing purple/gold. Ex: See tonight's game and what ppl say after

Sometimes teams just don't come together every year if 2 of your starters are injury prone (Ky/lively)
Jokic is the best player in the league and still hasn't beaten a 50win team in the playoffs
comment in response to
post
Agreed on Ky (and AD even more). But before this yr Luka played in 86% of eligible games. He's no LeBron but he's definitely no AD.
And Luka won two playoff series at 22. I think ppl forget how young he is still. SGA is a year older than Luka and has still only won 1 playoff series.

The finals team had the 2nd most games lost due to injury of all playoff teams and had the least lineup consistency of any playoff team. Due to mid season trades + massive injury bugs (Lively, Kyrie missed 2 months, etc). You can't fluke your way to beating 4 50 win teams and 1 60 win team in 2 runs
comment in response to

not bogus, there's nuance around it. The teams that he took to deep playoff runs were very good defensively when healthy. The problem wasn't inconsistent play, it was inconsistent bodies. for instance...

other injuries happen too (Ky missed 2 months last yr). Luka + healthy team = number 1 defense for the final 20 games of last season, the one stretch the mavs were healthy with Luka this year they were 14-3. That WCF team in 22 had no business being there other than Luka's magic against the Suns.

That segment with Mark was wild. One of the few times I disagree with Bob. Mark nailed the point about Cumulus suing Dan and Jake while the employees of the company honored them. It's the same thing.

Nico is on an ego trip and doesn't believe in a euro he can't relate to and he conned a dumb owner who doesn't know anything about running a sports franchise. They're estimated to lose 1 billion over the next 5yrs based on the trend of the post trade Mavs finances
