🚨 Dario Essugo Scouting Report [DM/CM | Sporting CP -> Chelsea] 🚨 - Essien-regen or ill-tempered wrecking ball? - Analyzing individual strengths - Projected ceiling & areas to improve - Tactical fit at Las Palmas & CFC As always, feedback & comments are warmly welcome!

Bayern Munich have been linked to Bradley Barcola, and he'd be a great signing. But here's a question: Why isn't there a huge bidding war for this guy? www.thetransferflow.com/p/everyone-s...

Interesting the difference between Maignan and this where we're not talking CWC tax or walking away. Anyone know anything different about these two players that might explain?

An unfathomably dumb transfer

Here's my takes on a potential (but likely) Gittens deal www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJ66... In audio form: open.spotify.com/episode/0pxR...

Very funny how many people are convinced Osimhen is only after the money when he keeps rejecting Saudi.

What you're gonna see when you don't have the wide open spaces the Bundesliga affords you is pretty much the same player but you paid 20x more for him than you sold the other guy for.

Rough back of the envelope math, but Chelsea signing Kepa instead of Alisson probably cost them ~130m when you factor in the fees, wages, the costs spent to replace Kepa (that weren't to replace Alisson), and the relative monetary value of their performances. All time transfer fumble.

Unwell FC still calls him a friend and a mentor btw. Just putting that out there. Also, THIS is the guy you want around the W? Cathy, girl.

If we can actually get Gittens for £30m, it massively changes my opinion on that deal. If we can't/won't try for Barcola, I'd be pretty in favour of bringing in Gittens and Garnacho for £60m total, hoping one of them hits and you sell the other one next summer for a small loss

Some of the people who disagreed with me about wanting Garnacho seem to be really into the idea of signing Kudus and I gotta say, I find that pretty confusing. Kudus will probably cost twice what Garnacho will, too.

This is an incredibly bad waste of a loan spot.

Hmm

Maignan hasn't actually been good the last two seasons and hasn't had an elite season since 2021-2022. Another one where we're 2 years too late on a long term target

I watched a lot of Delap and looked at a lot of data and here are my thoughts Is Liam Delap A Good Fit For Chelsea? youtu.be/W1cohtmDVwo

Becoming increasingly convinced that Garnacho is our best option for a LW and we should be busting United's doors down to sign him.

Very happy with season end but already hating the summer, wish I could just click the skip button and know what the team will look like after the window and accept it now. Hopes of Chelsea actually maximizing squad strength rather than investor returns kills me every year.

"They feel that his development has stalled" is an *insane* thing to brief. He's basically the same player as last season, except he actually gets into positions to take good shots now

You really have to ask why Manchester City aren't desperate to sign all of their former academy players back if they're the sort of talents being identified by the most exciting project in world football.

Jamie Gittens is a career .38 xG+A player in the Bundesliga. What are we even doing here? This is below Pedro Neto penalty box output in a league with inflated attacking numbers

If we sign another CFA product this is officially Hot Shields Summer. And at that point what are the other two even doing anymore?

Have been watching a bunch of the main strikers on the market, and noted how often it felt like Liam Delap is getting his shots blocked. His overall blocked% is low, because he takes so many garbage long rangers and has lots of headers, but on self created shots he gets EVERYTHING blocked.

one guy I really am happy for is Luis Enrique he won a treble with Barcelona and totally restructured the way they play and got no credit for it now he's turned a frontline of Khvicha-Dembele-Doue into a counterpressing machine and they ripped through the hardest schedule possible to a CL trophy

I don't really get the Branthwaite rumours. No doubt he's a good player but we have Colwill who you are surely banking on being that LCB for the future. Feels like buying for the sake of it more than anything.

well god damn that's a great deal

The season ended less than 24 hrs ago and I'm already, umm, massively not a fan of all the transfer chatter I've seen.

Far too few people understand that you can hold two opinions of conflicting positions. For example I think Liam Delap is a fairly good player with room for growth but the increased ManchesterCityfication of my club really grates. Speaks volumes that I can't post this on X because of untold morons.

What each of our potential striker targets means about the state of the club

Posted this in a thread but I think it deserves a more general visibility repost. One of these players is going to cost 100 bags, the other, like 30.

Chelsea's 2024/25 season is done (sort of), and I gave Maresca a report card. You can listen/watch here, but here's the slides below. youtu.be/-klDuOskwr0 open.spotify.com/episode/7CV2...

the total lack of interest in Cherki over the last couple summers, despite him demonstrating the most prized set of skills in world soccer, remains utterly baffling to me

Person I’m most pleased for is Trev. They tried to dump him, lent him out, got him back to cover Fofana and now he’s played in the final and has a winners medal. 💙

Jackson first player to score the winner in a final and come out negatively for it?

Reece James is still the best at what he does in England and it's not close at all.

25 mins in and this Gusto pick looks like being an all-time howler from Maresca

Been consistent all season that when Gusto goes inside it's a disaster. Drop him into the 3, Cucu midfield. You'll immediately be better off.

Gusto should be taken off right now

Delap: low risk, won't lose money, prob won't hit big Sesko: that's a big old bust right there Gyokeres: probably good but only 1 contract Ekitike: 😍 feels like obviously the best striker on the market
