2. Political resistance, from within and without of the country, was key to both tutoring the military and limiting Bolsonaro's actions. This has been implied many times by Bolsonaro supporters in the govt and military when they say there was no "mood" or "external support" [4, 5].

1. Waiting for the armed forces to enforce democratic rule is setting democracy up for failure. Military leaders can be discharged and replaced, and Trump has threatened to do so [1]. Its debatable if he is allowed to [2, 3], but autocrats aren't usually bound by law.
